Rockola CPO Trace

BTW - I haven't seen anyone accurately answer the question as to which CPO he vectorized in the first post. I believe it is Jump Bug...

You are smoking crack this time Mod... It is eyes, just as he thought it was. :)

Jump Bug has more arrows.....plus some directions on the left hand side. Pretty damn similar though.

Rockola really well all out in there artwork design.....

Well, your Eyes joystick hole is too small, and I just now noticed Jump Bug has more arrows. I think the instructions were added to the panel when they decided what game was in it:

I'll bet it was generic and then used for many different cabs...

Not sure I follow... Phet's vectorized one has the large opening like your jump bug. The Eyes flyer has the same thing, but has the standard metal plate over the top of the hole. The CPO below it is undoubtably the same.

You guys are making this way too complicated. I own 6 dedicated Rock-Ola games Eyes, Warp Warp, Nibbler, Fantasy, Jump Bug and Pioneer Ballon.
With the exception of the layout of the Warp Warp control panel, most of these CPO's are relatively similar. Each of them has the same size joystick hole. The size of the hole is carved out of the wood about 1/8 of an inch deep on the control panel as well. A metal plate then covers that area. Green ones on Fantasy and Nibbler and blue on the others.
There are a few variations when it comes to the layout... for example... Warp Warp, Jump Bug and Nibbler each have an instruction card on the left side of the control panel. This is actually part of the CPO - not added later. Pioneer Balloon and Eyes have the instructions on the left side of the marquee = while Nibbler has no instructions other than the screen.
Some of the CPO's do have 4 arrows and some have 8. Some of them do have the fire button in the stripe on the CPO while other games (that dont require a button) do not.
Also some have the start (player 1 and player 2) graphics on the left side of the buttons and some are on the right (although the text and box that surround it look identical)
As far as colors - Nibbler was green with a white stripe. Fantasy is just green (no stripe) Eyes, Jump Bug, and Pioneer Balloon were blue with a red stripe - although early Eyes machines did have blue overlays with an orange stripe.
The Warp Warp control panel does contain the same style player 1 and 2 start buttons - but other than that does not reflect the sister games style. (I have no idea why this is)

One last thing - the ultra rare Rock-Ola "Demon" has a completely unique control panel layout as well as a different color style monitor bezel (horizontal game)
I have only seen one in person - but it does have some similarities stylistic wise.

Looks like I'll need one of those joystick plates. Brad, do you have any extras? Otherwise, how hard would they be to fab?

Here are pictures of what I am talking about (since someone already posted a Jump Bug CPO I wont repost that one)

First one is an Eyes and Pioneer Balloon
Second one is a Nibbler
Third one is a Fantasy
Fourth one is a Warp Warp
Fifth one is the Demon

I have a few of them right now that I have pulled from some extra control panels because I want to paint them all (not that I got the colors correctly paint matched)
As far as getting someone to fab them.. that would be great - they are simplistic enough. I wouldnt mind having some done too (I can check into it) because these things (for some reason) are prone to being bent out of shape around the center joystick hole. Not really sure HOW that happens - but most of mine have had that problem.

Well if you have an extra to sell me, let me know. I want one for myself, and I'd need one in hand to have them fabbed anyway.

Either the CPO's faded over the years or the production guys at Rock-Ola were blind. The metal plates don't even come close to matching the color of the CPO's.....

Phet, since it sounds like you are starting from scratch on this, couldn't you go without the metal plate? Or are you trying for the original look?

Those pics were taken a while ago... I just got the exact color match paint last week and have not refinished the plates yet. The colors that are on them now are just some hobby paint I was able to find in the meantime...

I want the original look for a restoration. I have an original panel with the circle already routed out. I had a NOS CPO to scan, then I traced that scan. I am just missing the plate and the joystick, which I would assume would be the same or similar to a small Wico found in a Taito machine. Anyone have an extra plate to sell me? If so, LMK.

Oh, ok. So that isn't original paint. Sorry, wasn't trying to rip on your work! :D

The blue in the Jump Bug that I posted doesn't seem to match really well.

I believe I have at least 2 complete kits to sell for an Eyes...

Control Panel
Marquee
Bezel
Board

If someone is really interested I could start gathering this stuff together

Just a heads up...

I have had the Joystick plates reproduced and ready to ship by the end of next week.
They are 100% accurate and will be available in Blue or Green.
Colors have been exactly color-matched to the originals.

I'll take one, just let me know how much and where to send it.

Brad, never heard from you regarding those joystick plates. If you have them done, I need one. Don't leave me hanging. BTB, the trace is complete:

Bump. How many people need this CPO reproed? I think that will determine if it's worth having Rich screen these or do them textured/laminated ink jet. I have an original CPO covered in ciggy burns for color and size matching, so the repros should be pretty spot on.

I would be in for a Nibbler CPO for sure. It would just be a color change and dropping the fire buttons. He could use some of the same screens for both games.
