HELP!

My Rockola 490-1 was playing a record. The song was over and I hear the record return to the carriage. A few minutes later, I walked over to the jukebox to make another selection. I heard the platter still spinning. Weird. I looked at the display, and it was blank. Everything else was lit up.

Hmm.

I opened up the juke and the carriage arm for the records was in the down position around the platter, and the player arm was kinda hovering there above the platter with no record. The record it just played was back in the cassette.

I picked up the arm and pushed it to the middle to trigger the end of record action. The carriage arm acted like it was picking up a record, and the player arm went back to it's resting position. The carriage spun around once and stopped.

The display is still off, and moving the carriage advance toggle switch by the door does nothing.

I reset the circuit breakers and power cycled the jukebox a couple of times, nothing.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary, except maybe for some indicator lights I don't remember if they were lit before or not.

The DS3 -26V light is not lit.

Is this a blown fuse? Which fuse should I check and where do I access it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Check the edge connectors to the control logic enclosure. I had a 490-1 for a while that I had picked up quite reasonably due to similar 'blackout' problems, and a good cleaning of the edge connectors sorted it right out.

It has since moved along to a new home, but was still alive and kickin' out the tunes last time I spoke to the current owner.

FWIW

Hey Jack. I have not. It's currently gathering dust in my garage at the moment as I am not smart enough to figure out what's wrong with it. I think the power supply died :(

I think I found someone to take a look at it for me though.

Hi

Inside the power supply it have fuses. Check them first.

If you want, try a test:
Unplug the low voltage power connectors and see if the LED DS3 (-26V) come on.

Jack!
