picked up a complete set of 2600 wireless joysticks in good condition for $10 at the flea market today. plugged them in, and i have to say they work well. considering this is nearly 30 year old technology, i can easily play games 10-12 feet away on my couch without an issue. i haven't had any issues with the sticks yet, except that the antenna on the receiver really needs to be up all the way to get the best signal. but yeah, even though i sat on the floor in front of the tv playing atari or nes as a kid, it's nice to be able to sit on the couch and play.

Nice. I remember trying some wireless controllers for NES once. They were infrared and if the controller wasn't pointing EXACTLY at the receiver the whole time, you lost signal.

Worthless :p

I had one of these, and it worked pretty well from what I remember.

here's a picture of the atari ones. i stuck the receiver unit behind my 2600 in the entertainment center so it's not that visible. used radio requency so it works pretty well. i do have to say, the only shitty thing about them is the fact that you still need to get up and hit the reset button in a game if you lose.

no, just the two sticks. from what i understand, any of the wireless sticks will work, but there is an 'a' stick and a 'b' stick for players 1 and 2. so any atari 2600 wireless sticks will work with your unit.

That's pretty sweet. I don't remember those at all...

Really awesome pickup!

BTW As far at wireless IR controllers go most suck ass, for example I have these for my NES:

They suck, have to be pointed directly at the receiver, any deviation and forget it. Also the batteries last all of a few hours, and you have to remember to turn the power switch off.

Now the Genesis 6 button remote is awesome, while it is IR, you pretty much just have to be facing the genesis, not pointed directly at it. Also you don't have to shut it off, and the batteries last over a year even with a lot of play. Love this controller!

gotta say, they're not quite as fun after a few days of playing. one, i accidentally left the joysticks on and it killed the batteries in a day.

second, for a game like ghostbusters where you have to use the difficulty switches to change screens, you may as well use the corded kind.
