Rock-Ola Eyes Restoration Complete! [PICTURE HEAVY!]

Gorgeous restore, Jimbo. Giving me the motivation to get the laminate on a few pending projects of mine.

Thanks Louis! Yeah, I'm planning to use laminate a lot more often in the future, including my Arkanoid: R.O.D. remodel when I get to it.

Awesome job man! I don't see a ton of love when it comes to this game, but it's by far one of my favorites to play. Sending some rep your way.

Looks awesome Mr. Bodeanney! Can't believe you did that in an apartment, which makes it even more amazing! Very cool!

Thanks buddy! Looking forward to seeing you at Grinks next week!! Fantasy for the win!

Awesome job Jimbo!!! How long did it take you from tear down to complete? Did you have everything ordered and ready before you started?

My eyes has unfortunately been in storage since you last played it. Need to try and duplicate your success here.

Awesome job Jimmy. Love the sideart. I just popped by to say that Black Eyes Matter.

Amazing job sir. Very well done!

Thanks man! My next project will be redoing my Arkanoid: R.O.D. cab. I'll probably be ordering side art from you.

Wow, looks great. Routing laminate in your apt is easily level 9000 dedication.

Haha yeah...it made more of a mess than I anticipated, but the cleanup was far easier than sanding or painting inside as I've done before.

I tore down the cabinet the weekend of Sept. 17/18 so roughly two and a half weeks. I had previously rebuilt the monitor and joystick though. It was by far the fastest restore I've done, but I was very motivated to get it done before Grinkers. The laminate made it go MUCH quicker, too. I ordered the laminate and side art about a week before I began. Since Rich @ thisoldgame had the art already on hand, I didn't have to wait long, which is rare. The laminate took two weeks to arrive at Home Depot and I picked it up just a few days before the weekend I applied it.

Sad about your Eyes! Get it done!

Thanks Shawn. "Black Eyes Matter" made me chuckle and I support Eyes of all colors. Looking forward to see ya at Grinks.

You should seek out that raised "rock ola" coin door, so nice!
There is no "raised" coin door. It's simply a "Rock-Ola" sticker that Shawn has on his door that I believe Rich printed for him. None of the Rock-Ola coin doors came with that sticker on them, just like they never had coin lights originally either. I was contemplating asking Rich about the stickers, as I don't think he sells them on his site, but it became a low priority.

Greetings.

Sorry to bump up this old thread, but I have a question for jimbodeanny: Do you still own that restored Eyes cabinet?

Thanks.

EDIT: I'm not asking because I want to buy it from you, in case you're wondering. But I do have another reason, beyond plain curiosity...

Nice job. I elected to refinish one side of my Eyes after it broke out in hives during cleaning (that old MDF/fiberboard is horrible) but was this: || close to going with laminate.
