I had a similar issue on my 444 and a slight adjutment was all it needed.

yeah heres oping but i need to make sure i have the wires AT THE SWITCHES correct. No point in attempting an adjustment if i have something wired wrong

ok wtf.. i wonder if i have the wrong switches..
if i adjust the cam a little counterclockwise the thing will stop skipping teeth but has a hard time picking up a record. it will only pick it up about 3/4 of the way then stop. If i adjust the cam again, itll play but then when it goes back homee, skipping teeth again..
I wonder if the switches have a slightly different lengh roller or someething. I assumed they were all the same but mabye this isnt the case.

ok i hate this thing. I figured out that the switch that sits horizontal needed a longer rod. I found by taking the only good working old switch and extending the end of the switch into the secondary hole, everything seems to line up correctly and make sense.
It played a record, picked it up and sat it down, and spunt untill the magazine was back at home.
Now it shows no credits(pick selection lights off) and i cant get it to coin up with the credit test switch( there is no coin mech in this but its always been coined up somehow)
i did have the fornt door fal open easlier because the cain broke, hopefully i just have some bad connections to the selection panel or something, i unnno, im done for a couple days. I f*** hate this one.
