I have a Rock Ola 440 that was working sporadically and then stopped writing in the selection. I cleaned all the contacts from the keypad on down. Nothing. If I manually flip a lever, the read out selects, plays and then returns the record. For a while, it would recognize the keypad selection if I manually moved the write in mech. It would energize and stop at that selection. At that point, it still wouldn't flip the lever electronically. It also occasionally feels as if it is getting "hung up" as I manually move the write in. I'm stumped.

The keypad seems to be working ok as when I punch in a letter and number, the write in relay locks down - just nothing happening at the write in itself. I tried another motor and that doesn't respond either. Somebody, please... it's driving me crazy.

Do you have a manual?

It sounds like you have sticky grease in the mechanism, based on what I have found in a Google search.

I've never worked on one of these, so I can't say for certain, but grease does harden (the oil leaks out of the paraffin or clay binder which then becomes a solid).

Have you disassembled and cleaned out the old grease, and then re-greased it with fresh grease? If not, you may want to try that.

It seems like every time I take one step forward with this, I end up taking two steps back... welcome to life, right?! Thanks.

Ok. Some progress. I can get the write in to flip the correct lever to pick the record when I manually spin the write in mech. Apparently, I am getting no power to make the write in rotate on its own. Yes, the tracks are clean and so are the contacts. Ideas? PLEASE! (The motor is good as well...)
