Picked up a non-working Robotron earlier this Summer. Here is what she looked like:

The ugly Willis control panel has got to go

No top back door on the cab

Bezel has some flaking and no instruction sticker

Cigarette burns everywhere and both joystick balls are pretty banged up. .

Worst part of the cab is the front corner. A good healthy application of bondo will take care of it.

That looks great!

Is the upper back door and top in need of painting or is that just the lighting in the picture?

The angle of this shot an the lighting make the red look darker than it is. Refer back to the outdoor shots for the true color

this is just inspiring. I have one that I need to sand down and restore. I have the original CP and the recent run of Phoenix MW metal Control panels for a JROK board I have in there.
The original Robotron was converted to JAMMA so it was an easy decision to drop the JROK into it.

Makes me want to work on mine but it's behind a long list of projects.

What silver did you use? I always hear a lot of people use the "Can't find the right sheen" excuse to never restore their Robotrons or Sinistars.

The codes listed on pRok's site are right on. It's a two step process that requires a base coat and then a metallic top coat. Looks really good in person.

And a special thank you to member Joeycuda for some advice and tips on the painting process.

Wow, excellent work on that. It looks fantastic. Robotron is one of my favorite games. I really want one in my collection. (Santa, are you reading this??)
