while i was at a house picking up a G07 chassis to recap, i looked at the robotron.. the LED #1 on the power supply was not lit.. the BR1 looked suspect as it had black globs off of the bottom edge. its cheap enough to order and replace, but i only want to order parts once.

thoughts??

If that bridge was bad, It'll usually take out a fuse. I'd also suspect the LM723.

Test the bridge to see if it is bad. Usually when there is black ooze coming out of them it is the culprit.

I've seen a lot of them look like that, but still be good. They're not so much oozing...as it's more "bad epoxy" job.

But I've also seen them go bad and ooze :)

Agreed.

The bridge can be tested, and proved either good or bad very quickly and easily. The LM723 is a little more difficult to prove bad.

It also depends on which fuse has blown. I had one last week that one of the diodes went bad and caused one of the capacitors to short internally without popping and the one fuse would blow, very slowly.
