My Robotron CP has solid red plastic buttons for Player 1 & 2, with empty lamp sockets underneath. The sockets are wired, and putting lamps into them promptly blows fuse #2, but that's a different issue.

My Joust machine has the same CP construction, but the Player 1 & 2 buttons are a translucent red buttons for the light to show thru.

So, the question is, did Robotron originally have translucent buttons?

Thanks,
John

Blue translucent. Lights are on solid. White #47 LED's (wide dispersion) work well also.

Check the sockets in the control panel and the coin door for shorts. That is the most common cause of blowing fuse 2. It is just for the 6 VAC GI bulbs (coin door and control panel P1 & P2 lights).

The wires were soldered to the player button leaf switches, and then pushed against each other. I separated them and wrapped them in elec tape - all is well. Someone had popped the 6.3 wire from the connector to the cp, so i guess that was the quick fix.

Unfortunately, that is a common operator fix. Just clip the wire and "I'll get back to it". Yeah, right after winning the lottery, marrying a supermodel and starring in a reality tv show about route operators.....
