Picked up a Joust today that was converted from a Robotron.. I can see the RT side are peeking through a layer of black latex paint.. But the CP/Marquee/Roms are joust.. Although joust is one of my favorites, it feels like it kinda ruins the value of it..

The cabinets are similar, I'd keep it as is, and if you are really picky about it, wait for an empty Joust cabinet to come along.

I don't know if one game is really more valuable than another anymore, I think at one time Robotron was probably more valuable.

Just to warn you, you're going to get like 5,000 people tell you Robotron so get ready.

# 4 for robotron! only because it was.
#1 for Joust cause i love joust, i was just crap at it! but grab yourself a robotron CP, snd and rom board and try it out first
# 4 for CW multi as you get the best of both worlds and you can still use the boardset, but wait there's more!....

Robotron > Joust?

I dunno.

If you're a lonely loser with no friends (me), make it a Robotron.

If you have at least one other person in your life to play games with, make it a Joust.

Joust is an underrated simultaneous 2 player game. It has co-op and gladiator waves. lots of fun...

Joust is my favorite game.

Having said that, put the cab back as a robotron.

Joust deserves it's own cabinet. If you only have room for one cab, sand down the cab, stencil some new robotron art, and sell it. Then, buy a Joust cab. Or, maybe you can get lucky and trade someone a robotron for a joust cab straight up. Don't go the multi-way. Keep things how they should be.

That's my opinion on the matter.

First of all you're most likely 99% screwed on recovering the original artwork. The paint codes call for expensive paint and then you can plan on spending $100+ for stencils. Now add the $165 for the JR0K board or I suppose you buy the Robotron IC's and swap them the Joust ones out. CPO for $65+.
And marquee .... anyways you need to figure out your total investment.
Bottom line - make it into what you want and screw what anyone else thinks!

Joust seems to give you options on both as you can just put the 8 way sticks in there and leave the CPO that has the hole for the flap.

I have a Robotron converted to a Sega Columns and I've just got done patching alll of the holes and applied the Robotron CPO on there. The big problem is that it's just stuck to one game cause I really don't want to drill a hole through the beautiful Robotron CPO I now have on there. The machine was converted to JAMMA so it's prime for a JROK or even a AS MW setup and I have both to noodle around with.

I like Robotron way better. Its in my top 3 of all time, so there isn't much I would take over it. I'm curious about the conversion though. Its odd because they are games of the same era. To find them JAMMA'd would make perfect sense because they'd be done earning in the field, but not this.

Is there any possibility this was done at Williams and the game hasn't been converted, or is it too much of a hack job? Knowing that the inside pieces in my Bally cab have side art from other sawed up cabinets makes me wonder about this kind of stuff.
