Robotron = Nogotron

That is a very nicely done Arcadeshop switcher. The 2 black wires will go away altogether. They were tapped into the monitor power wires that are violet with yellow stripe. The original linear power supply connector is still there and intact.

You will need to repair the connector for the power brick that goes to the power supply, the connector that goes from the heat sink to the power supply, and rebuild the linear power supply.

I would do the whole thing for $60 shipped.

Sounds excellent. Let's do it.

The linear power supply is the one with the huge yellow capacitor on it, correct? And the heat sink is below it? I ship both of these off to you - what else do you need?

That is probably one of the cleanest conversions I have seen. The black wires just need to get traced back to the taps and the taps removed. A little electrical tape over the nicks in the wires to give them some protection. The plug on the adapter in the top of the switcher just needs to be unplugged and the original IDC connector replaced with a crimped molex connector to be connected to the rebuild power supply board. The same needs to be done to the transistor connector and you should be set.

Piece of cake.

Oh and the interlock switch needs to be put back to a place where it will be of some use....

Been a long time since I seen the inside of ANY game look that clean...

Having it painted makes it look really clean. You don't see many Williams games that were painted on the inside unless, dare I say it, it was to seal in an offensive and persistant odor issue.....:eek::eek::eek:

I just took a look to see if there were signs that it's been restored on the inside. I'm seeing all the original fuse labels and so forth intact and slightly yellowed, well-attached, and no black paint over what look to be very old "ground" wires stuck to the floor. So I'm guessing it's original, but it certainly could be a restore. (Interesting: everything inside that has a date on it is either from May or June of `82.)

I've wanted a Robotron from day one, and a mini from the second I found out about them. Finding a machine in good shape is a real stroke of luck for me. I'm glad I can enlist help to put this one back to original order properly.

Yes the board with the big yellow cap, and the heat sink below it with the two transistors in the middle of it, and the power brick which is the board with the transformer on it.

Hi Dokert,

I'm going to postpone getting my power supply rebuilt. Swapped in another PCB, and it fired right up.

I do understand the advantages of running the original supply, though. I'll have to do it eventually.
