While I was upstairs lamenting the dismal results of my G07 recap for another machine, my lovely Robotron took a dump. It was on while I was down in the arcade, running fine. Even set a new high score today. When I went back down to take stock of the other job, my most favorite game died. =(

Quick peek inside shows me the 5v line is dead (LED is unlit). Fuses are intact, so tomorrow I'll check the transformer & power supply board and see whats up. Posting here just to log the issue for others. Pretty sure I can fix this up in a jiffy. I hope...

Most common things are:
a) Fuse is not in tight enough. Pull the 7A fuses and gently sqeeze the clips together
b) Corrosion on the fuse. While the fuses are out, wipe the ends until they are clean.
c) The 723 voltage regulator. You did socket it when you rebuilt it?
d) Corrosion on the power connectors.

Edit:
e) It really is the fuse. Meter it with power off.

New machine Ken, as of this past Saturday. Looks to be pretty much stock too. Not all that surprising that I may need to rebuild the power supply, but it could be a fuse really...I just peeked in before going up to bed. Will post up what tomorrow brings.

All the other machines can give me grief as long as this one is working...

Yeah, F5 was popped. You couldn't tell unless you metered it. Put a new one in, fired up, let her run for a bit, shut down for a few secs, fired back up and popped the F5 again. Time to dig and see why.

First I need to go get a handful of fuses `cause I'm out...

Well, maybe this was a lesson of making sure your power cord is in good shape when you bring home a new machine. I took off the old cord with hacked off ground, soldered on a new one, popped in a 6A fuse (Ace didn't have 7's and I was impatient to see) and she cranked right up, didn't blow the fuse, and runs great.
