I picked up a converted Robotron machine. Side art is under paint, bezel is plastic, has original cp. Insides are conversion harness, switcher and a iso. Has matching tags still. Has some scratches which shows the colors underneath. They don't appear to be the same as what's on a typical cabinet. Was there different "test" colors used? I will be trying to strip paint off and see what the colors are. It seems like the typical silver is blue-ish. The serial number is EX0063. Any info greatly appreciated.

Yeah i know, never seen an "XP" upright, only those two minis with the black and white sideart

This looks like a new variation on an upright with sideart that i haven't seen before, very exciting

I hope you can get that paint off and reveal the original design! I'd start with a hair dryer and credit card before using chemicals

I hope to try to uncover art this week. At least enough to see what's going on.

Had a little time to pull it out in the sun. Did a little scratching to uncover art. Looks like the silver is blue on this one. Can't wait to get all this paint off. Also saw a stamping on back covered by spray paint.

cool stuff...

Per Mr DeMar—>

XP usually meant that it was part of the early prototype (10-30 games) run.

There were different color combinations used on prototypes. I can remember a black and white version floating around for years.

From Ken Fedesna who was head of engineering and modern days with Team Play-

As Larry has already replied, the "XP" was reserved for the early prototype cabinets. Also as Larry has stated, the art would sometimes change between prototype, sample, and production runs. What is unusual about this though is that it is numbered "63" which would probably indicate that it was a "production sample" and not one of the first "prototype" cabinets. We would first put together a very limited number of "prototypes" for testing locally, then manufacture a limited number of "samples" to send out to distribution and solicit production orders , and then start actual "production". The "XP " was usually reserved for the "prototypes, but we would normally only build 10 to 15 "prototypes. The number "63" would seem to indicate that this was the 63rd game built which would make it one of the "sample" units. I will check my records and notes from back then to see if I have anything more, but I highly doubt that I have anything with such "details".
