We're working on making a better Robotron CPO than what is on the market right now, but ran into a problem. My printer says he printed these back in the day for Williams, problem is the sample he sent me is a bit different than the original one on my machine. The part number is different as well as some of the fonts, coloring and artwork design.

I'm thinking the printer has an early production CPO, but wanted to get some input. I've attached pictures of my CPO (an original installed on a machine) and a sample from the printer.

Does anybody have one that looks like the sample below on their machine?

The one on the right is definitely different than my original, and the new one that I have ready to be installed. The "2084" is even lower on the one you have pictured.

About the only thing that I see different on my new one compared to the original is that the font is different for the part#. Everything else is just about spot on.

From what I can see the one from the printer needs more work to look like the original. My original overlay looks almost exactly like your original Anthony. On the reprint i see that the red lines are missing from the yellow squares, the 2 and 4 need to be stretched out more horizontally, the crosshairs are missing the outter lines, possibly more. It's a nice example though and the flaws would be unoticeable to anyone else but a collector. Sorry for the dirty example. My 2 looks different than yours, wierd.

I have a real robotron and bought an overlay.
the most glaring problem is the center where the robot is coming apart.
on the real one the background is more yellowish so the red robot stands out.
on the copy the colors are very similar.
really stands out when the cpo's are side by side and i found that disappointing.
the big 2084 font is noticably different with the outline too.
if that got fixed, then it'd be a good rendition.

The left arrow on the left stick of the FLAT (non applied) photo above is off... bad enough to notice immediately... avoid.

The player start buttons are missing.

Also I agree the move and fire arrows are off as well as the dying robot. It should stand out more.

Also the original NOS overlays were die cut so they came preloaded with the holes.

Also, the repro doesn't have the white of the cross hair extend out beyond the circle. The spots are there, just not white.

The repro just generally doesn't look as crisp as the original.

To my amateur eye the repro looks to be just that... a repro... and not a very good one. I'm doubting it's proto but what do I know.

The darker start is the same as on the cabaret cpo, and the early robotrons (2084s) are thought to be minis. There are 2 upright prototypes in this flyer, but I cant make out what type of "start" they have. We need CSI Miami to enhance the picture :)

The fact they left off the "1" and "2" and the red lines in the yellow blocks makes me think it was maybe a proof of an early design that didn't come out right.

Taking a little longer than I hoped, but here is the last proof I just received from the printer. I think we are real close, had a couple of small changes, but it should be printed real soon.

Realistically probably another 3-4 weeks until I have them though.

It's hard to tell from that picture.
Are the outlines thin and crisp like this original?
or fat like the repro image below?
