Robot City Games is my video game store in Binghamton NY. quite a while ago we started putting in some arcade games, 3 at first, then a couple more.. and at this point about a third of the store is an arcade with 28 games. Recently the store adjoining ours closed and we jumped at the chance to take over the space so we could do a full on arcade on one side and expand our retail on the other. The new space is 1,234 sq feet and will be all arcade.

I thought it would be neat to do a thread showing the progress.

Here's the empty space after much cleaning:

Here's a test video on the paint colors we decided on:

The windows will be blacked out and we'll have these LEDs going. We got like 40 paint samples and these are the 10 colors that are most reactive to the lights.

These are pictures after the first day of painting:

very cool, i guess this means i need to make another trip out that way. I definitely like the mural on the walls.

Sometime next year I was planning on tracing some family history... maybe I can stop by there... I think I will be in the general area.

Wow. How are you going to get all the games to fill that? Did you used to own an arcade or something?

(please read this as a reference to your other thread... I'm not really that dumb)

Looks like a great space! Going to have to finally stop in once it's up and running.

Congrats on the extra space and the larger arcade! (Your thread in CAAA is my favorite on the site, by the way.) Glad to hear that you are expanding. Can't wait to see pics of the room filled with machines!

Thanks. Well, things are not going to be wicked full at first, we'll get there though. A couple Games from Tim later this week and a couple pinballs from Jeff F sometime soon.. and the stockpile of stuff I have at home.. I have a feeling we'll have it filled sooner rather than later.

Been painting all day.. Still like 4 more hours of that to go today.

Here's an update on what painting got done today. Not the best pictures since there's no power over here yet so no lights.

Made boxes for the windows for security and lighting reasons today. There will be LEDs on the outside with.. stuff in there, have not decided exactly what yet. The inside will be painted like the rest of the walls. Actually the inside of the boxes will be painted the same way. Thanks to my father and brother of Wales Woodworking (www.waleswoodworking.com which is never, ever updated) for helping. Actually for doing most of it while I did not much of it.

Here's updated paint, lots of it still needs a second coat and I still have a lot more to paint.

We got power today after a friggin' $400 something deposit. Some lousy contractors that the landlord has hired came in. He brought an electrician with him this time to make a hole in the wall with a hammer and say "Yes there are wires in there". They are to make a hole between the two stores. Unfortunately the wall is riddled with pipes and it's not going to be as big as I wanted or as neat as my father could have made it but he wants to hire someone he knows or something. So it's going to take a while, be boring and I'll have to look at lazy people scratch their heads over nothing while I'm painting.

Jeff F also stopped in and dropped some of his Magical Lighting Science with some really good ideas on how to mount lights. Thanks Jeff F :D

I should get another chunk of painting done tomorrow.

Congrats on RCG's forthcoming growth, Casey!

That ex-wig shop is apparently much deeper/wider than I've always assumed it to be.

I'm unsure if I'll be in Broome County before year's end, but am looking forward to the "new digs"!

That paint scheme reminds me of Fruit-Stripe gum/vintage Toys R Us stores, which is high praise.

I think I can get the last of the first coat done today, besides the window boxes.. I will post pictures later if I get it done.
