So this is LONG overdue, and I have to apologize to Rob for that. To give you some idea I just this evening started setting up my Atari System 2 test bench so I can finally ring out the stuff that I picked up from Rob along with a bunch of other system 2 boards I need to fix and this all went down between March and June??

Ill try to keep this short.... Back in 1Q16 I read through this thread and caught a glimpse of what Rob had been up to. In the linked to video he pulled apart an APB. Well, I have been wanting one for a while so I started hounding him to sell me the leftovers to dump into a cab I found in Philli. Many PMs over several months, he was nice enough to keep me up to date and also worked to find me other hard to find parts for the game. About 3 months after I finally made it down from NH to his place in southern VA. HE TOOK THE DAY OF WORK to make it more convenient for me!! He gave me a screaming deal on the APB (several of the parts alone would sell for more than what he passed the whole to me at) and several other parts. I actually was so overwhelmed that I realize now I should have probably brought more $$. Ill visit him again I hope. ;) :D

Then, on top of all of this he made time to introduce me to one of his friends in the industry, used that connection to give me a tour of some awesome arcade spaces and was just generally a wonderful host. I really feel like I was so overwhelmed and tired (Lots of driving/walking for me over 5 days) that I was a bit scatterbrained and not as gracious as I should have been.

Anyway, all my babbling aside, Rob is a wonderful collector who is really putting in the effort for the hobby and I wouldn't hesitate to work with him for any reason. I certainly consider him a friend.

I haven't had nearly the dealings with Rob that you have, but I have picked up on some of these same things. And I wholeheartedly agree, Rob is an asset to the hobby and all around nice guy!

Gotta agree here.

Rob gave me a great price on several spare Defender board set parts for me to piece back together a working set, as well as let me borrow a working rom board to test with until I got mine working.

Sadly, I still haven't finished working on it yet, but he's a great guy and a definite asset to the community. I can only hope to help out someone else in the future like he's helped me.

Completely agree! I had issues with timing my payment, and he was super cool about it. The parts I got helped bring my Pole Position back to life.

The dude is awesome!

Thanks guys! Getting to the end of the "destruction" phase, as well as the heat/humidity of the summer here has left me a little burned out on the hobby.

I've enjoyed dealing with each of the members who posted above.

People give KLOV a bad rep, but over 95% of the people I've actually dealt with have been positive.

The words of encouragement are invigorating! Time to get back to sorting this stuff and mailing it out!

BTW: If you can make it out this way, I will make sure that you cart away as many CRT tubes, parts chassis, frames and generic Coin Controls coin doors as you can carry :) This stuff needs to be geographically redistributed.

Man, I wish I had known that's what you were doing... I'd have taken a weekend to come down and help. Do you still have a lot to do? I mean, crippled help is better than no help....right? ;)

Status of the apparatus.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid that the interesting part is over.
All of the "big" work is done. All the wood has been taken to the landfill we have done some decent sorting of the monitors into "possibly" and "parts". Been sending coin doors/parts to a couple members for refurb/reuse. Probably have more than 60 monitors/tubes/chassis/frames in various conditions They don't mail well, so am just going to have to hope that people come and take them over the next few years. Still have a lot of coin doors of various makes (as long as you don't want Midway or any "raised letter" stuff), as well as coin buckets.

Seriously guys, let me know when you will be in the area, driving through to Nags Head, Va Beach, etc.. and I'll put some junk in your trunk :) Just 2 miles off of I-64 when heading south from I-664 or north when travelling up 64 from the Outer Banks. I don't own the storage containers, and the guy who does has already pulled one to fix and sell. Was able to fit the remainder of the stuff in the other 2 trailers, but if he wants to get another one off of his property......would be challenging to fit it in one trailer (safely).

I thought I would chime in here. I have visited Rob's garage a couple of times myself. He sold me the Yie Ar Kung Fu board I needed for cheap, and hooked me up with a couple of k4900 part chassis for a few bucks. He even let me play his Paperboy and Crossbow machines!

Rob is a good guy who genuinely loves the hobby and isn't just looking to make some money at the expense of his fellow collectors when he has something you need. He is the very definition of an "asset to this hobby".
