Has anyone seen CR1, 2 and 3 on the Xenon vocalizer board looking like they have been to a barbeque?

Took the traces right off the board. Someone kludged in some wire - looks like crap, and they used the wrong diodes.

I should have grabbed pictures. This Xenon had more hacks in the boards than I have ever seen - even the power brick had one.

The customer had lost audio - I pulled and scrubbed all the pins on the chips, and that resolved it, although there is a fuzzy sound that kind of rumbles in the background. I figure it's my three little diodes (look like 1N314s instead of 1N4001s) bleeding AC into the line.

The diodes passed the diode test, so they aren't fried...yet.

I had the same exact problem. Wrong diodes, fried, and poor audio. Part of the poor audio is (at least on mine) from the Cap on the Soldenoid driver board. There are wires running directly from there to the sound board and the wires were too close to some of the ROMS. Re-routing the wires helped. I think I will look into a grounding fix that Someone on here sent me from I think Pinwiki. If I come across it again soon Iwill let you know.
Good Luck

Yeah; common issue with those boards - I think it's recommended to put a heat sink on them to help keep them cooler, but every one I've ever seen has at least shown heat damage to the PCB in the area..

Think you need something beefier than 1N4001's as well.
