Roads, the final frontier. 800 mile weekend pickup.

A couple months back I picked up a vector lot with a Star Trek captain's chair. It was a big project, as it didn't have any of the original wiring; but it did come with the boards, monitor and power supply. I've been hunting for parts here and there; picking stuff up slowly. Fully expected this project to take a while to get running, probably at least a year or so (I tend to work slow, and have several projects going at the moment).

Towards the beginning of December, I was exchanging emails with a fellow klov member on a second project captain's chair. It didn't come with the canopy, boards, monitor, or power; but I already had those things. I didn't want to drive down before holidays, so the trip to pick it up was going to be put off for a while. We finally arranged a time for me to grab it, so I made the long trek (pun intended); 800 miles round trip; to get the cabinet. It was a long Saturday.

I now have two captain's chairs in my basement! The second one I picked up this weekend has the art (my first one didn't) and everything else; just without boards/monitor/power. I already ordered and have the G80 power replacement, and my boardset is out for repair. This means that if I get the monitor up and running; the star trek will be complete. Way faster than I ever expected, but I'm looking forward to it! I'm probably going to swap a couple parts from the first cabinet with the second, add the canopy from the first since the second didn't come with one, and then have a pretty decent cabinet between the two. I was also able to make a deal on another vector game while there. Don't want to reveal what that is yet, but it's pretty obscure; and would make a nice addition to my growing vector collection.

Also to note this weekend, Friday night was spend helping the guys from Midwest Gaming Classic on project builds for the show. Then on Sunday I picked up a free Gauntlet Legends Deluxe and Police Trainer cab. Police Trainer went to a friend, and Gauntlet is currently at my parents place til I make room in my basement. Overall, this was a long weekend, but everyday was filled with some arcade thing going on.

Carrying the Gauntlet over/through snow drifts sucked...but it still wasn't the worst part of the day.

Nor was moving the Police Trainer down my stairs.

It was the dad who was at that place, telling us how to do everything.
