Atari System 1 RoadBlasters JAMMA Adapter w/Joystick Steering Circuit

ABOUT

This is a limited run JAMMA adapter for Atari System 1 / RoadBlasters. This adapter allows you to connect the System 1 PCB to JAMMA systems via Molex connectors, and allows you to drive using the joystick and buttons, instead of a steering yoke or pedals. This is an excellent adaptation for joystick or gamepad play. All boards are hand assembled and soldered in the USA.

FEATURES
  • Eliminates the need for a steering yoke or pedals! Utilizes a novel steering circuit to map joystick movements to steering, mapping a button to a brake pedal.
  • Onboard negative voltage boost inverter supplies the -12V current to the PCB without need for a specialized power supply. Any quality JAMMA power supply providing sufficient +5 and +12V should work. NO NEED FOR AN AR BOARD!
  • Sound Circuit with Op-Amplifier: Converts the L and R audio output into a mono output suitable for JAMMA conversions, and provides an on-board op-amp with volume control.
  • Onboard test switch for utilizing test mode.
  • Molex pin mappings and connections printed on silkscreen for easy setup.

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Above each Molex connector on the adapter silkscreen, you'll find the name of the corresponding connector and pin numbers for the Atari System 1 PCB. Verify these against your manual / schematic package to ensure they match.
  2. Decide on a physical location for the adapter; this will allow you to estimate the length of your wiring to ensure it is sufficiently long. It is generally a good idea to place the adapter close to the Molex connections.
  3. Using 2.54mm JST or similar connectors, crimp and set the adapter ends of the Molex using the appropriate size connectors. Molex connections will be wider on the System 1 side due to pin spacing and key pins. Use a multimeter to ensure all connections are sound.
  4. Ensure the JAMMA adapter is correctly aligned with a mated connector. Once all Molex cables are installed, flip the "TEST" switch on the adapter to the "ON" position. Connect to your JAMMA system and power on into test mode. Ensure all controls respond. Adjust the volume trim pot if necessary. Turn off the "TEST" switch and the game will reset.
