It seems that people often refer to Roadblasters as a dime a dozen or the game that people toss away.

I collected all the pieces for a Roadblasters kit and played it a bit today. I definitely played it back in the day, but it was never a favorite.

The game is fun! It's amazing how having a cool controller causes you to get more involved with the game.

It's not going to be my primary System 1 game (that would be Marble Madness), but it's great to have Roadblasters as a periodic change-up.

K3V, sorry you don't have one yet.

Tornadoboy, sorry yours is broken!

machfelon, thanks for the kind words about my games. Photos always make games look better (unless they are just terrible to start with).

EagleTG & djw90, good to see some love for Roadblasters here.

Yup. RB is one of those rare games that is extremely fun AND cheap. I bet if I listed my RB kit here I couldn't get $100 shipped for it.

I picked up a RB this weekend that I'm going to install an Indy kit in, but I'm looking forward to having both. While I played it BITD it didn't grab me in a major way. Hopefully I will love playing it now. Although first I have to get it working. :)

Funny. But seriously you can have it for that, it's just collecting dust and I've sold my System 1 cabinet. Buy my Peter Pack Rat kit for an extra $350 and help me close out, I may even have a spare daughterboard or two for RB to throw in. And I can toss in manuals/flyers.

I don't have the pedal though come to think of it. :(

EDIT: And for some reason this thread makes me think how cool it would be to have a STUN Runner. :D

Roadblasters is a great game. Back in the day, it was in EVERY arcade I went to for a while, and I always saved a quarter for a game before I left. It wasn't on the top of my list, but always fun.

Great to hear from everyone!

Since I have a collection of Roadblasters fans, I thought I'd ask a question about my control panel. It's in pretty good shape but has some strange color splotches. See the picture below.

Notice the "splotches" near the front of the CP on both slides of the handles. I first thought it was some gunk or oil that would wash off. However, it doesn't go away no matter what I do. The art also feels smooth there so there is no obvious damage.

Any idea what this is? Perhaps it's just permeant damage --- but from what?

LUCKYMAN... BTW... your CP is much more saturated than mine (color wise, such as the blue). Does it look that saturated in real life?

Yes.. my CP is brand new old stock.. i installed it my self.. even the sticker that shows the ATARI symbol is brand new old stock, over powder coated metal..

One thing that is missing is the steering wheel CAPS on either side of the wheel.. These were always stolen from the machines when they were in the arcade.. you can see them in my pic..

Believe it or not, one of my childhood memories and therefore a grail. Have a cockpit version and everybody from young to old loves playing it. We've even tied a block to kids' shoes (a la Short Round in Indiana Jones Temple of Doom) so they can reach the pedal themselves :)

I think it's a really fun game, I liked many of the late 80's games that Atari developed. Xybots, STUN runner and Roadblasters. Luckily we have a CP at our local Family Fun Center. Here are some shots of my daughter playing.
