RoadBlasters Custom

From ordinary killing machine to EXTRAORDINARY KILLING MACHINE!!!

Cabinet and Hardware:

Built brand new black melamine cabinet
(old cabinet was recycled for Peter PackRat)

Stripped and powder coated CP, bolts, brackets, speaker mesh
New T-molding
New Locks
New Vinyl Casters
New Power Cord
New Speakers
New Marquee Light Fixture/Bulb
Stripped and powder coated coin door

Cosmetics:

New Custom Side Art Package (my diabolical creation)
Taken from a 2.5 x 4 Atari Lynx box cover - scanned in at 3200 DPI
Had to buy RAM for my MAC just to open the file.

Took a LOT of work to make it fit right and look right, scanning that high creates a bunch of problems like lines running from top to bottom - that's 7 feet of rubber stamping in photoshop x 4 times. Had to play with the angles and finish missing art (like the asphalt areas)

Reproduction yoke upper and lower decals: my creation (plotter cut and textured to match CPO)

NOS Control Panel (CP, Stick, buttons)

New Controller end caps: www.arcadefixit.com

NOS Marquee (replaced with custom marquee)

Original Monitor Bezel (paper)

Custom Atari coin inserts with LEDs

New Glass Bezel

Repro Self Test Sheet

Electronics:

Cleanup/restored inside guts: AV board, wire harness, PCB, etc.
NOS 19" Vision Pro Monitor
New Fan
New Speakers
New Switching Power Supply

Now that's the way Roadblasters cab art should of looked back in the days. amazing work!! If I ever win the lottery I'm gonna pay you to restore all my games! :D

That looks REALLY great. If I didn't want to be able to switch back and forth between Indy Jones and RoadBlasters, I'd love to skin my cab like this. BTW, I got end caps for the tube from lowes I think it was (home depot only had them in white IIRC) but it's cool that you can get them from Mylstar too.

That's good to know, what are they called and where can you find them at Lowes?

Not sure what they're called but they come in those little bags in the aisle of miscellaneous hardware drawers.

Damn, that's nice... Anyway you would be willing to share the artwork files? I have a Roadblasters cabinet in my garage that I re-painted a couple months ago with plans to get the original Atari side art. This is how the cabinet should have looked.

Thanks for the positive comments!
Just after I finished this game my son and I were playing it and then went to see Wreck it Ralph. Big smile on his face when Roadblasters was featured in the film.

Wow.

Sometimes I get sick of all the "Custom" jobs done around here...it feels like BYOAC at times.

Then someone does something like this and makes you realize that custom work does have a place on these forums.

Very well done.

Wow what a great comment - thank you very much.

couldnt agree with this more
amazing work there again Dan

Hands down you have some amazing machines brought back to life, and as much attention as I would like to put towards that Roadblasters, I can't help but always look beyond that machine in the pics to the Crossbow & Chiller you have sitting against the back wall.

Restored, repro'ed, who cares, just call it bullet proofed. No worries, no muss, no fuss.
