How rare are roablasters cockpits, I found one the cab is in very nice condition, no art. It has been converted to some other driving game. What are these worth?

I saw one on ebay located outside of L.A. a few months ago and with a starting price of around $350 it got no bids.

What has it been converted to?

Dont know. I went packing to this place, bad end of town. There was no power. went up above a garage. it was there. looked with a flash light. The guy said it works. he is going to haul it to his house and plug it in there. and let me know what game it is.

All he could remember is you picked different tracks and then different cars??

Well, they are very huge. I almost traded for one before I'd ever seen one in person, but am now glad I didn't.

There is a guy here in town who keeps trying to sell 4 games for $500 total - with a working RB cockpit included - but has gotten no takers because he insists on one buyer taking them all. He's been trying for about 6 months...

i love mine, one of my favorite games as a cockpit. The sound is awesome and the magnified lens is awesome

I saw one locally in fair cosmetic, good working condition for $250 and it sold within 12hrs. You can find them, they are out there. Typically for every 15-20 different RB standup cabinets I see for sale I see 1 cockpit. Your biggest leverage for sale is they take up lots of space and people just want them gone to make space.

Wonder if its a Cruis'n?

The RB Cockpits tend to bring a little more $$$ than the upright, and they are getting harder and harder to find. In your case, however, value will depend on what its been converted to. If its JAMMA you can always put more drivers in it, or you could find a cheap RB upright somewhere and convert it back to the original.

Personally I think the cockpits are awesome, I'd love to have one.

I think they are awesome looking .. probably a beast to move tho.

Eh. It's got wheels, so it rolls. The hard part is getting it on a truck, but the one I had to move was in an apartment, and the level of the front door and sidewalk was the same level as my truck bed, so I backed up to the steps and only had to lift one end a couple inches to get it onto the truck and roll it in. Took up almost the entire length of the truck bed, though...

I've seen a couple for sale. Don't think they sell for much. If I wanted one I wouldn't want to buy a converted one. I'm certain I could find a dedicated one in nice condition relatively cheap. Plus I believe the cockpit version uses a different board the the common system 1 cabs that most people are familiar with. So it could be a lot more of a pain than it's worth to piece one back together.

One of my favorite cabs, I put a LOT of quarters into that one..... I have one in Maine but I've never seen it... Back when I was looking I would have paid a LOT for a really nice one, probably still will if the one waiting for me isn't that nice.... But I'd say you average buyer would pay $350-$500.

Maybe I should try to get it. I could prob pick it up for 50 bucks. I have a extra set of roadblasters boards I just got on ebay. The only problem is getting it out of the loft. Its above a garage. there is a small regular size door that opens out of the upper level of the loft and drops into nothing, no steps. the guy said 6 guys lifted it up there.

this version of the game does not use the standard system 1 boards. Unless you meant you had an extra set of RB cockpit boards. Then I stand corrected. Not sure if the cockpit has the space to mount the standard system 1 boards if you wanted to do so.

Thank you kind Sir. I will not be buying this now, if my boards wont work in it. I knew I might have some issues making a harness, but if it takes special boards not worth the time, thanks again.

I dont see the problem. The only difference I know of is the cockpit has a brake pedal (I think). It even has the same 19" monitor, with a fresnel lens to magnify it. If its JAMMA, youll have to rewire it anyway (if you want to convert it back), and I just realized from your signature that you already own an upright. My vote is buy it and put your upright parts in it. RB uprights are a plentiful, it would be nice to see a cockpit get restored back to its former glory.

I do have a UR and another board set and another control panel. So it the brake the only difference? Does someone have a picture of the control panel?

I might still consider it, but I have tons of projects. I guess if I could make my harness and boards in this it might be worth it.
