I have a friend that's been looking for a Deluxe Afterburner for a while... we finally found him 1, actually... 2, the guy had two of them. So... we picked one up at his place of work, then went to his house to pick the other one up... it was in his garage.

He had one of the best personal collections of machines I think I've ever seen in person. Everything was shopped, cleaned, and amazing. Ded'd Majoy Havoc, Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters, 720, Tempest, Space Duel, Gravitar, Lunar Lander, Space Invaders Deluxe, EDOT, Ghosts n Goblins, Ghouls n Ghosts, Ded'd Space Ace, Dragonslair, Cobra Command... I'm having trouble remembering all of them, I'm just remembering the ones that stuck out to me. All in amazing shape. We managed to get the Tempest off of him, but he was reluctant to let much of anything else go... 'cept the Space Duel which he wanted to get rid of, but for $350 or so, the guys I was with didn't want to pay it... I'd've taken it in a heartbeat had I had the money.

Over all... great road-trip. For those that are local, there are some new machines at the arcade locations here in Nashville. Satan's Hollow and Tempest at Rivergate, Ghosts n Goblins and Toobin' at Hickory Hollow. The Afterburner Deluxes aren't on location, nor will they be any time soon. They're at my friend's garage and they'll be staying there for a loooooooooong while because NO ONE feels like moving those things again ANY time soon. We picked up a few boards as well, they'll be randomly popping up at Hickory Hollow in the "game of the week/month" cabs there.

It was nice meeting you guys last night.

I hope the Toobin' gets a lot of love in the mall!

:)

I COMPLETE skipped over that. lol Sorry Fatsquatch, I meant to mention the Toobin' came from you.

So, I'll add that here. The Toobin' we picked up is in AWESOME condition, really beautiful.

Poor Squatch got stuck waiting on us for an hour or so (probably more) while we figured out how to load the Afterburners into the truck... it took FOREVER to get the damned things in the truck and I thought I was going to die (being crushed) atleast 3 times while we raised the liftgate... I seriously thought I was dead a couple of times... a couple more times were just REALLY high in the "pucker factor". By the time we got the thing lifted, it was WAY past the time we were supposed to meet with Squatch, and he waited on us VERY patiently... me personally, I'd've left, but he hung in there and we really REALLY appriciate it.

It was really a good road-trip. Met Squatch, Dale, and finally saw Rock City (if you've ever been through Chattanooga, you know what I'm talking about).

Freekin rock city. There's a barn by my parents house with Rock city painted on it. Back in the day when barns were billboards.

OMEFFINGOD! you losers! hahahaha I cannot believe G&G is gonna be at the 'cade!

Yeah, I hate having everything in two different arcades, because I just wanted everything I want to play to be in Hickory Hollow since that's where I am 99% of the time. NOW I have to drive to Rivergate to play my Satan's Hollow and the Tempest. lol

We need to put all the crappy 25" Midways over with Rob in Rivergate, and me and Jason can enjoy the good stuff while Rob works on his 40 hit Orchid combos. lol

If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't get my jukebox inside the house... So... it was a bum trip for me. I got almost NOTHING. lol Well, I did get BattleZone home finally, so that's nice... but now I have to clean it up... but I want to get some pictures of it first because it's AMAZINGLY dirty in there.

GnG is in storage because it needs reject buttons on the coindoor, and Toobin is is storage because, well... we were lazy and didn't want to move it anymore. We'll move another pin to the back wall, and that should give us enough room for the two to be put on the left wall... Personally, I want GnG RIGHT by the counter so I can play it when I have downtime.

There should be a few buttons left in storage. I had to put some on that Xmen in there the other day when I did some work for Jason. Im really hoping i can make it up there this sunday sometime. Even though it closes at 6, do u stay later? I think we should fight for a high G&G score!

Im all in for moving a few of robs midways. I really would like to play some tempest. I havent played that game since i was a little kid.

Do these classis games do well on location? I can imagine the Afterburner deluxe would because of the novelty but how well do the other ones do? I wish I had an Afterburner Deluxe. Had a lead on one locally which ended up being a dead end. :(

Oddly enough, not really... most don't do well. People like different games than the collectors do. They had a wall of Willams games when they first opened the arcade (Robotron, Joust, Moon Patrol, Make Trax)... none of them got played more than once or twice. Robotron is still there because WE play it. Tempest, will probably do okay though if it's put in the front window... Besides Galaga and the Pacs, not many of the classics see as much love as you or I would like... that's for sure. Mr. Do! gets played A LOT here... but a lot of the other games you'd expect to do well (Track and Field, Hyper Sports, Defender, Robotron, etc etc) just don't do that great. The older crowd loves them, but the average gamer these days wants fighting games, Time Crisis, and new pinballs... it's really a shame. Don't get me wrong, they make their money and they usually pay for themselves, but they just don't get the love they deserve.

What's a grail to most people on here is "how are you supposed to play this thing! *snicker*" to the kids these days.

That Robotron gets a few buck from me everytime I go in there. BTW...speaking of Robotron. How come the high score save isnt working? Did you get mad when Jason beat ypur high score? hahaha just kidding.

Na, that's on a switcher, and nothing was added to it to help the setting stay more stable... that's all on Jay.

Although, I can't really complain... mine at home does the same thing. I need to pull it out and start tinkering with it and try'ng out that adding a cap to the +5 circuit... but I'm really lazy

Yeah, I usually stay after 6 if something needs to be fixed... sadly, I'm pretty much caught up there now though.... kinda painted myself into a corner. With the new hard drive, even ITG2 is up now... so... everything of ours is working, and I'm paranoid now as to what is going to break next.

I think with the work I'm going to have to do tomorrow, I'll probably not be staying too late because I'm probably going to have to rush home to finish up moving stuff in... I have to start taking a jukebox apart tomorrow and moving it in piece by piece... ... I think it'll take me a lot longer than I think it should. ... plus I'm going to get started on BattleZone. I think I've already found the problem... and surprise surprise, it's the power supply board (friggin' Atari...).
