Have all the sounds on Road Runner except the beep, anyone else ever have this issue? Couldn't find any sound troubleshooting info in the manual as to what chip might need to be replaced and no sound errors came up during self-test.

Thx

Anyone have any thoughts on where to look/tests? I'm at a loss on this one, weird, I would think other sounds would be missing but it is just that one.

Does the test software have a place where you can step through ALL the sounds to verify it is the only missing sound?

If it is the only sound missing, I would verify the EPROMs in the sound section.

Do you have the "gulp" sound when he eats a pile of bird seed? That one sounds like it'd be from the speech chip too. (might help rule out of it's the speech chip or not)

Thanks Fred, I assume it is a chip on the RR PCB as the Indiana board I tested had speech. Any idea which one and if it is custom, etc?

Looks like I'm missing one of the 3 chips in the Snd section of the RR PCB, are the 3 direct swaps from Indiana (which has all 3 and is working fine sound wise), so that I can test with direct swap? Should the RR board have all 3 chips present?

EDIT: Looks like there should only be the 2 chips in that section from the pics I've seen. Hmmm..

RE-EDIT: LOL, according to manual, it should be there. I assume I can just swap out the one from the Indiana Jones board to see if that fixes it?

Fixed. Found an old thread from Joe Magiera having the same issue with an IJ and he swapped the 6522 and TMS5220 and it fixed the issue. I did the same, not sure which of the two it was but figured I'd swap both while I was doing it. Got some loud ass beeping now. :)
