road burners= monitor resolution switchable?

for anyone who wants to know, it uses a medium res monitor, NOT vga. klov info needs to update that.

our Road Burners has a Wells-Gardner U3000, which is analog VGA. considering you can only run it dedicated, that's what it came with. I know there's a lot of Vegas hardware games that run medium resolution, and I don't have definitive knowledge about the different video card types and such, but I can assure you it's in the very least capable of running VGA.

if you got it to run on EGA, then good for you, but the VGA descriptor is not incorrect on KLOV.

Yep,
I've only ever worked on one Road Burners. It had monitor problems......and it was a big ass Noe-Tec VGA monitor.

On a side note....a lot of these later era games can do different resolutions via dip switch settings. The problem....it's all undocumented.....you just have to start flipping dip switches and hope you get lucky.

I just happened to get another Road Burners in the shop for repair. It also has a VGA monitor in it (WG-U3000). I started messing with the dip switches......I'm pretty sure dip switch band at location U12 changes resolution. Dip switch #2 was on, all others were off. When I flipped #2 off...I got a split screen. It would not adjust out....it definately affected my resolution. I didn't have a medium resolution monitor handy to fully test my hunck. Dip switch bank at location U13 were also all off.

Monster kong, how are your dip switches set?

hi
i actually have 2 road burners and i looked in both of them and they both have med res monitors. both machines came from different sources too.
ill hev to peak at my dips.
id love to convert them to lcd, so i hope they can run vga.

Road Burners is VGA. I've had ones with the WG VGA, and the Neotec NT-2702. Never had a Road Burners with a mid res monitor in it.

You shoudl be able to hook an LCD up to that puppy. Also, RB is not Vegas, it is a Durango boardset. I believe it is the only production game to use that hardware.

EDIT: It is listed on system 16 as Vegas, but I remember there being something maked Durango in the set that made it different than other Vegas games when I parted one out.

The ones I saw always was Vegas in mid res, may have been other hardware around with RB running, but original ATARI has voodoo based video card in vegas system. So even when the card is totally capable of work in VGA, it depends on soft to force it work in VGA. I don´t remember if dip setting would change the res, but you could use resolution converter in case it won´t. There is some adaptors from any res to lcd vga with max out of 1360 x 768.
Try changing dip positions, if no one sets res to VGA, PM and I send you the link to get the converter.
