I'd bought a Road Blaster kit from a fellow KLOVian and received it last Friday. After checking it out I noticed it was missing a harness for the yoke and pedals. After emailing the gentleman he discovered the harness in a separate location from where he kept the kit and immediately mailed it out. I received it today and hooked everything up...

It works! I just played my very first game of Road Blaster. It seems like a decent enough game... I have a feeling Marble Madness will still remain the kit installed in the System 1 cab most of the time. One strange thing I noticed... it retained my Marble Madness high scores... when the HS list came up I was like "Whoa... the top 4 is JON just like me... wait a minute..." and then I noticed they WERE my high scores... from Marble Madness. I was surprised because when I went from Indiana Jones to Marble Madness it didn't retain the high scores from Indy. No big deal...

Anyway, that makes 3 kits for the System 1 cab I have... Indy, MM and Road Blaster. I'd like a Peter Packrat kit but they tend to go for much more money than I'm willing to spend... and I am not too sure on Road Runner... so likely I'll stick with these three.

Anyone have any cool ideas for storing extra control panels?

TO DO: I still have to install the pedal... I just have it sitting on the floor right now. But before I do that I am going to re-paint it and put new grip tape on it. I also need to re-paint the bottom "curved" part of the yoke...

Oh... and I got my System 1 side art from Phoenix Arcade today. Now I just need to get the time to strip the cab, clean it up, paint it, apply the side art, then apply the new T-Molding I ordered yesterday (going with dark blue).

Frizz,

For the extra CP's. Just get some extra piercings and hang them from your balls. People only stare for a bit I am used to it now. LOL. I used to love that game but I burned out on it.

Nice. I hope to actual get mine working this summer. Do you play Indy on the cab much? It is not super cheap, and I already have it on the MAME cab. I am just wondering if you think it is worth buying it to swap in. I think it is a fun game, just not sure if I would swap it in very often.

I am really looking forward to getting RB working though. I really enjoyed that one when I was a kid.

I never did beat that last level.....You only get one shot at it. I really wish someone had a picture of the T-shirt that was won. I have the Topper that goes on the Cockpit in my storage area...

Nice score

I have a bittersweet memory of Roadblasters....I loved the game...the nuke power-up was so sweet ;)....the very last time I played that game was when I was working at an arcade in Chilliwack BC when I was 19....had the change belt on and was playing Roadblasters and the arcade was deserted...a guy walked up to me and asked if I worked for the arcade....I said "yes I do....how many quarters would you like"...and he responded "none.....I am here to serve you with a closure order" and he promptly gave me a writ and went to the front and closed the doors :(.....needless to say I did not set a high score on Roadblasters.....I just lost my job :(

I love RoadBlasters. Pretty much the only driving game I played a significant amount back in the day and probably the only driving game I have any interest in owning. They actually pop up on craigslist here quite often but I haven't picked one up yet.

Everytime I think about giving mine up, I end up playing it more and more and end up keeping it. Its so common but its such a great game.

I keep my spare daughter boards inside the cabinet wrapped in bubblewrap. Then, I keep my control panels and marquees in a waterproof container (each one wrapped in bubblewrap). Seems to work pretty good for me. Lowes sells a nice waterproof tote for about $15. My marble madness is the game that usually stays in mine. I love the game. I actually just picked up new track balls, but need to figure out how to light them up. Anyone got any ideas for how to do that?

Thanks Fonty.... I think I'll likely build something similar. I'm in the process of getting a 12' x 12' storage shed built in the back yard which should open up some possibilities.

Thats really cool. I remmeber playing at the local bowling alley when I was a kid. Definatlely on my wish list. :)

After playing a couple dozen games I find the game to be entertaining. My only bitches are the NOVICE/MEDIUM/EXPERT settings with the booster score... and of course the REPLAYS... I wonder if I can turn off replays...
