From what I understand, DPTwiz will be running a few of these for someone. I threw my hat into the ring. I've had this one in the garage a while and have steadily held progress with it. However, as I haven't heard anything recently as far as any developments, I may just have to bondo and repair the cabinet I currently own.
Going to keep it regardless I suppose and maybe make a Tailgunner cab or something (I think they were the same cabinet).
So, I guess the gist of this is to find out what and where to find this material that is used for covering it.
If anyone else has Rip-Off cabinets they want to have made, maybe we can go in on it together on the material laminate.

first week of october zin.. it's going down :D

Just finished building my Ripoff cabinet.

nice one as usual fizgig, especially the side art!

i believe tail gunner also shares this cabinet design,

this cabinet design typically did not hold up well in part due to the fact the factory did not use leg levers to keep it off the floor

Plus, they rabbited (I think that is the term) the side pieces too close to the front where the groove for the t-molding is located. With the particle board soaking up water, the "inside" part of the groove piece breaks off easily.

I think I need to take a picture.....but anyone that owns one knows what I'm talking about.

Sadly, there is never going to be enough demand for a quality repro for side-art.

yup you are correct about the "rabbited" pieces breaking off, i have had three ripoff cabinets and all were water damaged to varying degrees in the front sections, the only one i have saved is still pretty bad, i have been thinking of re-proing the cabinet myself it since the gameplay is so great on this one

so many projects so little time

Yeah this sucker was literally falling apart it was so water logged. Just sliding it around chunks would come off and the smell was horrendous. Usually when I get a game in it waits its turn - this one jumped to the front of line so I could get the stench out of my workspace. 2 days later the new cabinet was built and the old cabinet met mr. sledge hammer.

So did you paint this or did you use the laminate from Twisted Quarter? I'm thinking I need about 20 feet as I'd just do the outside of the front and sides. But that's still $120 at 6.00 per foot.
First week of October has come and gone and I think DPTwiz got sidetracked. If I could come up with the room to work, I could probably pull the sides of my cab off and replace them and redo the front as well.
But since that's not an option I'm considering throwing this back into storage until next year and get the Red Baron out for some work.
