RIP - Gary Garcia

I got choked up just now listening to "Pac-Man Fever" and my favorite B&G album track, "Mousetrap". I remember buying the LP at Record World back in 1982, and I listened to it so frequently, the record was totally wore out several years later!

The Pac-Man Fever album to me defines "happy childhood". All of the songs have a great upbeat pop/rock vibe, and it's impossible for me not to smile when I hear any of them.

Thanks for the great tunes, Gary, we'll miss you.

Kyle :(

Well, that sucks.

I've had this page up for along time. Click image.

P.S. Click on the copyright to buy the full songs if you want them. (I don't make any money on your purchase)

So, their website lists Gary as being responsible for lead vocals. Is that right? Was he lead on all of the songs on their hit album?

EDIT: Dunno about the other songs, but just saw their American Bandstand appearance: he sang lead on Pac-Man Fever for sure.

After reviewing the full LP today, it seems that "Ode to a Centipede" and "Goin Berzerk" are not sung by Gary, I'm assuming Jerry Buckner sings lead on those two tracks.

For the longest time, I never understood the significance of the "Pluck your magic twanger Froggy" line in "Froggy's Lament".

I assumed it was just a nonsense phrase until I found out it was a frequent quote of the mischevious character "Froggy the Gremlin" from the 1950s children's show "Andy's Gang".

Hmmmm... "Froggy the Gremlin" is referenced in the song "Froggy's Lament", which is a tribute to the arcade game manufactured in the U.S. by Gremlin/Sega.

Froggy the Gremlin... Frogger by Gremlin/Sega... woah. That's weird. :)

Kyle
