So in the middle of a game of Indiana Jones the other day, my right flipper pops up into 'button pushed in, up' position, and won't come back down.
It only comes down when the game is off, or if I open the coin door. I thought maybe the long metal switch contacts might be touching..... nope. Checked the wiring, looks ok to me per my no-knowledge standards. Any ideas what might be keeping this flipper up?

It's likely electrical if it flips back on power off... If your opto switch is clean and your metal actuator is working correctly (i.e. you press the button and the metal bit that blocks the opto moves out of the way), AND your 5 solder points on the right flipper assembly are good and solid, then take a look at this:

Specifically the section on "Flipper gets stuck in the up position..."

Mine looks like this, could you point me in the direction of the u slot opto? I tried switching the boards, and the issue moved to the left flipper, so it's definitely the opto board.

That is not an original board and it uses magnetic sensors not optos - simple answer is that board is stuffed! You will have to buy a replacement one (maybe an original that DOES use optos).

id put it into test mode to see if the End Of Stroke switch and the flipper button switches are working.
if they are, use the schematic and follow the flipper wire up onto the fliptronics board and you might have a bad transistor thats locking "on" the flipper

Those are no good go back to the originals
