Should I attempt to glue this and if so with what kind of glue? Or where can I find a replacement part? Thanks

rifle repair

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you will not find any type of glue that will repair that piece. The part is cast pot metal, it is possible to weld but will require a Very skilled welder.
(read this as expensive) If you are capable of some metal work you should be able to splint the broken areas with some aluminum of appropriate thickness. I would splint, drill, tap and screw and epoxy. Be aware, that you will have to relieve the stock in the splinted area. The front screw hole, I would suggest finding a longer screw and shape a washer to fit the lines as needed.

I hope this helps

Try JB Weld. Good stuff. Actually, it's MIRACLE stuff. I had a friend whose father repaired a car frame with it. "good as new". It looked pretty ugly, but he didn't try to tidy it up. You can machine it, paint it, whatever...just like metal. It's amazing. Use it like regular epoxy.

Now that you mention it I have seen some that were plastic. It has been many years since I worked on one of these. The last one I did, suffered a vandal attack and it was broken off very similar to your pics. If it is plastic I cannot think of any type of glue that would bond as this is a high stress area.

Use JB Weld.
Works with most types of metal and plastic. When you make the repair, really build up the area. (think about how bones heal) Let it cure for 2-3 days - whatever the instructions say is the FULL CURE TIME. Then use a regular mill file, needle files, and sand paper to shape it down. Paint as needed.

Also...try to not have air bubbles when you mix the resin and hardener together.
