I have a 2 seater Ridge Racer 2. Both sides of the game work, however I cannot figure out how to link them to race player 1 vs player 2. They both play independently. I have checked the setup and the cars are labeled CPU1 Car 1, and CPU2 Car 2. This thing was completely apart when I bought it so I'm not sure if there is a linking cable that is missing, or where it would go if I had it.

Thanks, I had been using that to get it this far. Page 18 shows a Link PCB assembly. I will ring those wires out when I get home and ensure they all have continuity. Maybe something wrong with that board also.

Checked my wiring to the link PCB. All the wiring ohm back to their respective pcbs. The 2 relays on the link pcb pull in when the game starts. The cars are setup with different cpu #'s and car #'s according to the manual. Both games will play, they just don't let you play against each other. Just hoped someone else ran into this.

I have this too, now. It's worked fine for years and suddenly stopped.

Anyone have any other help/ideas?

Verify the switches are working correctly is the first order of business here.

I don't know much about that game but I would go back to the manual and take each step and do it all again just to make certain it is nothing you have missed.

the most common fail of linking are the relay contacts, you can see them pulled in but they are not conducting the line they should close. You need to desolder and extract them in order to dissasembly and access the contacts to clen them up. If you want to verify this, just wire jump the contacts and you´ll see the link working again..
