I do not get it do RGP guys have their own way of talk I cannot keepup with any of it.

@XXI21 Wow, thats really on topic. Thanks for the so very important input to the thread.:004_ssleepy:

Dale - I find the acronyms a bit confusing probably because I am not into pinball at all really. I always have to look them up!

Well, I can tell you that generally RGP is haunted by a band of very snobbish, very uptight members. Remember, I said generally-I'm on there, too. They are very clannish and speak their speak so as to impress each other and to self-stroke egos. Don't get me wrong, there are quite a few members on there that are very helpful, but, man, what a pedantic bunch! Try, just try selling a pin there- you'll be barraged by questions that we generally don't see here. I know pins are much more expensive (I know, I own 12) but again, they seem to be a very suspicious bunch when it comes to selling. God forbid if you might be selling a "player" quality machine. Not everyone has the time to totally strip down a playfield (LOTS of work) wax everything that's made of wood and flame polish ramps. If you attempt to sell a machine without the aforementioned you're a slob and a beater. Dealing with vid people is a lot better, oh we have our losers here, too, but they're all pretty well known...just my opinion..

It's mostly the acronyms for the actual pins. Here are a few of the most common that I recall:

TOM - Theatre of Magic
CFTBL - Creature from the Black Lagoon
TOTAN - Tales of the Arabian Nights
TZ - Twilight Zone
RFM - Revenge from Mars
ATM - Attack from Mars
MM - Medieval Madness
BTTF - Back to the Future
IJTOD - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
LOTR - Lord of the Rings
ST:TNG - Star Trek: The Next Generation

BTW: I agree 100% with Jordan. While there are some nice folks who will help if you have a tech problem, offering to sell there is like swimming with pirahna after cutting yourself while shaving...

I never got the acronym thing. The only possible use for an acronym would be it's a shorthand way of referring to something, but there's so many of them they're not instantly recognizeable so you have to either think and think about which game they mean, or you have to actually look it up. How in the hell that saves time is beyond me. It reeks of snob mentality, to be honest. Just my opinion, I could have it all wrong.

If the purpose of it is to save the writer time by just putting an abreviation, then that's bullshit too because so he can be lazy now I have to work harder, lol.

Now, if they said something like this, it would be alright...

"Hey guys, I just played my WhiteWater, and it's an awesome game. Question though, I know WH20 is a complicated pin, but where's the best place to get WH20 parts?"

That makes sense because the game has already been established, so they can abbreviate and everybody knows what they're talking about.

The whole thing is just pretty snobby.
