I bought this to install in my game room but ended up going another direction. This is all pro stuff. Cheap strip lights have very low LED density and you end up with hot spots and it looks like christmas lights. These have 120 LEDs per meter. Because this is a 24V system, you can do much longer runs with additional strips. I spent $286 on all this 2 years ago and never installed it. Prices have gone up a lot since then. I would like to get 1/2 of that ($143).

RGB controller. Can easily change the color, intensity, etc. of the RGB LEDs.
1 x Programmable RGB Controller Pro Kit for LED Strip Light, 4 Zone (rgb-pro-4zone-kit) = $113.00
Power Supply. UL listed Meanwell. 24V.
1 x 24V 6.5A 150Watt LED Power Supply, Mean Well LRS-150-24 (LRS-150-24) =$26.00
RGB LEDs. These high density strips are meant to not have any hot spotting when installed in a channel.
1 x High Density 4040 24V RGB Color Changing LED Strip Light, 120/m, 5m Reel (24v-rgb4040-120-5m) = $89.00
LED aluminum channel. This is low profile corner channel. Can be installed around doorways, in the corner of the ceiling, etc.
5 x LED Strip Light Channel, Aluminum Extrusion Profile V Shape 1.17M (3.83FT), 1616S (1616S-1.17M) = $45.00
Additional wiring supplies.
2 x 4 Pin RGB LED Strip Connector Hippo- Strip to Wire (strip-to-wire-4p-hippo) = $2.00
3 x 4 pin RGB LED Strip Jumper or Solderless Corner Connector (strip-jumper-rgb) = $6.00
10 x 4 Pin RGB LED Extension Cable - 4 Conductor Wire, 22 AWG, by the Foot (4p-22awg-1ft-1001) = $5.00
