I have two Rev X boards that need some work so any help would be appreciated.

First one when I got it it would show Ram chips U67 and U77 as bad how ever U77 would some times test okay and other times as bad in the test menu, but the game would play just characters and other items came up pixelated or as just black shells, I replaced the U67 with an NOS chip but it continues to have the same problems with the exception that U77 now always passes the test and no longer ever shows up as bad.

Second board I purchased as a tested and working board but that turned out not to be the case, when you power the board on it freezes with a security error, never getting past that.

For general information, the ram chips on the first board in question are soldered on so reseating is not an option.

Also for testing purposes would I be able to wire a set of say HAAP .45 guns into the IO board on a test rig or would I need to pull the CP from the cab?

I keep trying to convince someone to get acquainted with these boards. I have 3 of them and they are all dead now. I've noticed the caps leak a lot near the right side of the pcb and I think this has a lot to do with the failure of the main pcb and the sound boards. If someone could learn how to fix these they would have steady work since the failure rate seems to be above 80% now.

REV. X doesn't use light guns, it uses x/y guns so happs will not work.

El Dorado does work on these boards, I had them go through mine and repair the non-working sound, total cost was about $120 with shipping. Not cheap, but... they do them.

Bump, Any help? Especially on the security error?

There should be a PIC chip next to the battery. It has a serial # sticker on it.

It's probably missing or dead... or the crystal for it is missing.
