I decided it was time to fix the hole in the side of the cab. First step is the remove the monitor, and the boards.
Monitor and boards came out with no issues, and game me a little space to clean a little more.
All the harnesses, and the power supply were on the other side of the cab, so I left them intact, and covered the Switcher, to keep sawdust out of it.
Hole was marked out with tape, and then marked out with sharpie. Cut hole was 4" x 5"
Only one thing to do at this point, Cut away. I used a small battery powered circular saw, with a fresh blade, and plunge cut into the cab.
I used a small battery powered sawzall to finish the cuts. then I used a piece of furniture grade 3/4 plywood to make the patch. I know it's not what the cab is made of, but it was what I could find on the remnant shelf at my local lumber store. Besides, I don't like partial board, and when everything is 100% done, the only way anyone will be able to tell, will be looking from the inside.
Finally, I glued in the patch, and reinforced it from the backside.
For the short term, this is done. I'm taking 4 of my games (Ms. Pacman, Gyruss, Frogger, and Popeye) to the NWPAC in Tacoma this weekend (June 8th, 9th, and 10th 2018) and I needed to get the hole taken care of for that. Overall, the plan is to sand, bondo, and repaint this whole side, but this will not be for a bit.
In addition, I replaced the damaged feet with locking caster wheels. This is also a fairly temporary thing, Until I'm able to source new feet. This isn't the only machine that needs new feet. In addition, As seen in the picture of my arcade corner, I have a bookshelf that I am blocking with Gyruss.
I don't really have anywhere else to put this bookshelf. So for now I need to be able to easily move the machine. My plan ultimately is to get a smaller couch, with will allow me to move a machine beside the frogger, and free up access to the bookshelf. In addition, I plan on getting rid of the love seat that is currently in front of popeye, and use stools instead. This will allow me to move Ms. Pacman closer to the front door, and free up space for a machine beside Ms. Pacman, that will not be blocking the bookshelf.
Oh the joys of a small house, and no extra rooms.
