Here is the Revision A ROM set for Atari's The Empire Strikes Back (Arcade). This was found on a VAX/VMS backup, assembled and put into ROMS. The only difference between this and the released version is the copyright year is 1984 instead of 1985.

NOTE: This is NOT currently supported in MAME, but can be played using the command prompt to launch it.

NOTES:

REVISIONS:
FEB. 15, 1985 REV A Verisum: B635
FEB. 20, 1985 REV B Verisum: B735 gr: copyright year changed from 1984 to 1985 per Lucas. ( nla: even though its wrong. )
gr: Rom 3 (136031-203) Location 0D37 is 35 for copyright 1985 ( check with Data I/O )

Hey @Dutchman2000 nice work on all the ROMS you've posted. Have you submitted them to the MAME team? If not, mind if I include links in the forums at MAMEworld to your threads/ROMS?

Good stuff of course, but what we really need is a revised set that allows players to re-earn a shield unit when completing a level or maybe when completing the "JEDI" letters.

Lacking the ability to earn back a shield unit really hurts the game play, IMHO.

Or if someone really wanted to go all out, make it so that the player can destroy the asteroids somehow..say by hitting it in just the right spot or something like that... :)

That probably wouldn't be very difficult...

...particularly if starting from commented Atari source code so you don't need to figure out all of the memory addresses / and reverse engineer the subroutines...
