I am a new collector and excited to have found you all, my like-interested, arcade-desease afflicted brotheren.

Well, to the meat of the matter. I recently got a original atari return of the jedi stand up as part of a group of arcades I recieved from the idaho silverwood theme park's quarter arcade closure. After blowing off the dust and adjusting the monitor it works and looks really great, cabinet is in almost new condition and monitor is bright. It is missing one small lower section of side art and a 2 foot piece of t-molding, the only detractors.

For the record it is the 15th stand up in my collection, but is definitly proving to be the most mysterious. The reason being is after doing what research i could on the web I found that mine is a little different......

First off, the owner's manual is in a black and white cover. The art matches the one's I've seen on the internet, but the binding is different too. It also has an rubber stamping of "Preliminary" on all the paperwork. The serial is UR00010, and the front has "revision 1" typed on the "gauge cluster". which also looks slightly different from what I've seen.

The Silverwood property ID tag is numbered 38802 and since the model number is 388 I'm figuring they had two of these machines at one time. It makes sense because of the extra parts that came with it, looks like #1 (maybe atari serial 09 or 011) got canabalized=-(.

My question is;

1)Whats the story on this one? is this just an oddball or will it prove to be more collectable than any of the others? I'm not selling but would like to know anyhow.
2) how does atari serial numbers work, is this really number 10 off the production floor or part of a bigger run?

Any idea's, opinions, or leads on where to go next would definitly appreciated.

..."Wonderful!!! You are now a part of the tribe..."

Welcome to the forums. Pictures of the rotj would be great if possible.

Field test unit/prototype most likely. IM Oregonarcade. I believe he has one and you two can compare notes. Is it worth more? To the right buyer i suppose. That game isn't loved near as much as it's daddy.

Not sure that low serial numbers will make it worth much more, but it is really cool. I think condition will be the true indicator of value. If it was a prototype it would be worth more.

Would love to see some pictures. You got this at silverwood, you are close. Are you in Spokane?

Thank's for the welcome and the info everybody....

I'm actually in seattle so I guess I should post the story of its travel to here in the crazy move stories thread. The short version is that my buddy went all the way there in a uhaul on a questionable tip w/ no verification and came back with 5 free standup arcades, all in less than 24 hours total......
No straps to hold them + mountain passes coupled with overcaffination and an tight time schedule = A true miracle of survival story.

I will definilty post photo's of everything I have and become more active on this site as much as work allows. Now that I have finally found you (your so sexy;-) I will definitly spend more time here. So go ahead and put sheets on the couch and hide the stash cause my spare internet time is going to be staying here awhile.

Fun Fact: I rotate them from the man cave (commonly known as a testosto-room) to my pizza resturant regularly and set them to free play for the customers while they wait. Its been a big hit here in West Seattle. Feel free to steal or pass on my idea, I would love to see more places do it.
