Good question! I for one would be getting this for my Ms Pac cocktail.

Just paid for CT version 96 in 1, sweet!

Hello Mike,

Just wanted to say thanks for doing another run of these!

I was asking for this not too long ago in your Q Bert multi thread. By strange coincidence, I've since then purchased a couple of your older version 96 in 1 multi Pacs. I acquired a couple of Pac uprights in the last few months (multiple cabinet purchases), so now I can equip those with 96 in 1's :) before reselling/trading the extras off. I just read you mentioned a separate button for pause/main menu select. I guess I missed that, I was wondering because it seemed to not be able to do that without shutdown/restart - I guess I need to spend a little more time reading up on this stuff....

....I couldn't image anyone having a Pac/Ms. Pac without a Doyle multi now!!

Any idea of ETA on the Q Bert stuff?

Wow!

Received it already, WooHoo!!

I want to put this (after I install on my Ms. Pac Board) into my cocktail machine. I forgot and just realized the machine is jamma setup, currently with 60 in 1.

Can anyone recommend a good/cheap/fast place to get a Pac to Jamma adapter?

Or anyone have a working one they want to sell me?

Thanks again Mike, great stuff!

Anyone figure out how to change the settings on Pengo or Alien Armada? Every other game I can get into the dip switch settings and at least set those (free play, difficulty, etc.) But Pengo and AA just don't seem to have dip settings.

Got mine a few days ago and installed it today. What a great kit! Easy install and it works great. Thanks Mike!!!!! - Barry

Just got mine today. Now my wife can have Pac and Ms. Pac (and tons more). A question for you cocktail owners, where did you mount the daughter board? My table has a slight problem with either the socket or riser on the row 6 syncbus card. Any movement and the game resets/throws up junk. I know the true solution is to replace the socket or riser, but I'm too lazy to do that now. Any movement from the ribbon cable in the Z80 socket transfers to the syncbus and causes the reset. If I can find a good place to mount it out of the way, it should alleviate that.

I've noticed a couple strange things on some of the 'homebrew' versions included and was wondering if it was normal or a problem with either the 96-in-1 or my main Pac-Man board. I specifically noticed this on the circles, Z28, the random and in sequence maze choices. After a certain number of pellets are eaten, one ghost will move across the screen in the same direction (top to bottom or side to side) over and over again until the maze ends or Pac dies. They are able to go through walls and when the energizer pellet is eaten, I cannot eat them. Then, sometimes, other ghosts, after eaten, will remain eyes and move in a pattern in a certain area on the screen, never going back 'home' and becoming ghosts again. Finally, sometimes Pac cannot move in certain directions even though there is no wall in the way.

Some other observations. I cannot get Alien Armada or Pengo to add credits as noted in the manual (pause menu, right). Also, dip switch 2 does have a function. On Pac-Man, dips 1 and 2 off = 2 coins for 1 play. I got tired of having to credit up twice to play one of the non-free play games, so I switched dip 2 back on. It limits the # of characters on the high score table to 3 (like a traditional Pac game).

Thanks Mike
2nd kit I have purchased.
I ordered on Monday and received the package today
Can't ask for anything more, great appreciative / timely responses to inquiries
Top notch experience all around!

96 in 1 multi pac kit

I'm trying to get an email to Mike Doyle about a kit I bought off ebay and it does not have the ribbon cable. I would like to see it I can get one off him.

Thanx. Tom.

You can buy a new Pac style ribbon cable at many places. Ebay should fix you up for around 10 bucks.

PM sent, I'll ship you one at no charge. (not my eBay auction by the way)

Mike,

I've had one of your kits for a few years now.

It's been great and I have no complaints, but I'm still wondering why the normal Pac-Man play is slightly different. I have several patterns that don't work correctly, and I've noticed that the attract mode is slightly different as well.

I have two other machines that play regular Pac-Man and those both allow the patterns to work correctly and both have the attract mode I remember, where the Pac gets killed above the lower left energizer. One is a Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga Reunion, and the other is a MAME machine.

Any insight on the difference between your code and the originals?

By the way, very nice gesture on your part for the person above who needed the ribbon cable. Wow.

Thanks in advance.

This old RGVAC post gives an indication why his death is different on the kit. It also indicates that all the old patterns work fine. I've read somewhere else that Dave Widel made sure that Pac and Ms Pac and Plus play true to original hardware and many experts have confirmed this.

Interesting read.

I'm really talking about the pattern from the 9th key on. I've used Bazo's Breaker for years, and I just can't get it to work properly on the kit. As I've said, it works great on my MAME machine and my 20th Reunion machine.

I guess I just need to create my own 9th key pattern. :)

I have v2.0 of Mike Doyle's 96-1 and I can personally attest that there are a number of differences between the multipac kit and original midway Pac-Man. The patterns do work, but not consistently like they would on the original. For example, on the first level (the cherry maze) The cherry pattern has about a 50% success rate. The other half of the time you get killed by the pink ghost, under the monster pen where the fruit appears. The mid-fruit patterns seem to work fairly consistently though.

There is also a slight flaw in the ghost logic. They are able to move up through the t-handles above the monster pen. They cannot do this in the original midway version. Also the secret hiding spot in the cherry maze doesn't seem to work either.

There are a number of color issues, not counting the blue maze for paceman plus. If you do a side-by-side comparison, you'll see that the fruit are different on both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. And you'll also notice that the color is off on the first Ms. Pac-Man maze. The color of the dots in Pac-Man are off as well.

That was version 2.0. I don't know if It's been fixed in 2.54.

Look, these aren't deal breakers. The kit is still loads of fun and you'd have to look really hard to notice. But if you're a purist, as I am, it can be annoying. If anything, what would've been a dealbreaker for me would be the incorrect monster/ghost patterns. Since they are not true to the original version, You have to play the game slightly differently. And that's not the reason why you bought an arcade Pac-Man.
