Retro Arcade (Arcadeshop) Vector Chassis (WG6100 replacement) Q's

Hey,

I picked up a Tempest the other day w/ a strange vector chassis... after a little searching I've found that it's a Retro Arcade chassis (both HV and Deflection board), previously sold by Arcadeshop.

Anyway, is there any technical info, troubleshooting, schematics, etc anywhere for these? When I turn it on, it plays blind, and I hear deflection, but there's no HV. On the HV board, the "Low Voltage" LED is lit. I'm not sure if this means the input voltage is low, or my assumption is that it means the B+ is low, and in effect HV is low (so the LEDs are a way to tweak the HV w/o any special tools).

Does anyone know anything about this board? Is it basically just a copy of the 6100, so I can troubleshoot w/ 6100 docs (and did they keep the same component numbers), or is it a totally different design?

Thanks,
DogP

Totally different design.

I have all of the paperwork, and can scan it but I will need an email addy to send it to.

Slightly off topic, I've never personally seen one. IIRC I had read countless threads about the first version of those boards were horrible with jitter issues.

Dok: If you could scan/email... that'd be AWESOME! My email addy is dogpn - at - verizon.dot.net

Deadly: Yeah, I've heard the same thing... I haven't seen one, or of course this one work yet, so I dunno whether that's the case or not.

Not that I needed another Tempest, but I got a good deal on it while I was buying some other games, so I couldn't pass it up... I figured the repair would be fun, then I'll give someone else a good deal on it once it's working.

I was really just excited to get a Gravitar... and the factory Amplifone was a bonus :) .

Well, I stand corrected. I had all of the paperwork, now I can't find it. I think DJW90 has the HV adjustment procedures.

Sorry about that, I have no clue where the paperwork went.

No prob... I'll email AS and see if they can email me any manuals... or if anyone has any other info, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

i have the replacement high voltage for the Amp in my Star Wars. There is some jitter but other than that, its been trouble free. Getting ready to rebuild an original Amp HV board and use the other one as a back up.

No luck on getting any documentation (AS said they never had any repair stuff, just install manuals, but said the two frame mounted transistors tend to be what dies on them)... so I pulled the board, and Q3 (IRF620 - the smaller frame mounted transistor) was shorted. So, I'll replace that... but looking at the board, there's really not a whole lot to it, so hopefully I'll be able to get what I need.

I know this thread is old, but I'm one of the original owners of the HV and deflection boards sold from Arcadeshop way back in ....'05 ish ??? It's in my Space Duel and yes, I lived with the jitters for years but now there is no image at all on the screen. Good grief, where do i begin to fix/test this ??? Did replacing the Q3 fix your issue?
Much appreciated.

Hmm... I don't think I ever got this fixed. Really, no idea what happened to it at all. Wasn't this board also done by the same Fred guy that recently did some K6100 repro stuff? (I think he's on FB)
