Anybody know anything about retrieving the locking code from the NAND on a 360?

I've done a lot of Googling and read a ton on it and I'm still confused.

I have an Xbox 360 with HDMI port that I bought. It won't read games. I thought the DVD drive might be bad, so I ordered another one. After switching the DVD drive motherboards, I still had the same problem. It reads DVDs but not games. Which leads me to believe that the original owner swapped out the drive without swapping the drive's MBs, thereby loosing the locking code. The only way I can find to get it back is by dumping the NAND. Anyone ever do that? Is it even worth doing?

I just want to point out that I'm just wanting to get this xbox to work. I don't want it modded or anything else. Just working.

I don't think you can get that key from the motherboard side. The NAND will just allow you to run a custom dashboard. Been a few years since I messed with an Xbox so maybe it has changed.
