hello.
i just found a few old games in an old auto garage and i am thinking of restoring them, one game is a gottlieb hot shot and the other is a chicago coin commando gun game electro mechanical. but i was wondering is there any EASY way to get the yellowing off of the cabinets.......ive found a few machines like this before my guess is these machines were in a smoke filled bar for a long time? the part of the cabinet that is supposed to be off whiteish is sorta like a yellow/brown......is there a easy way to get this off? by using wax? rubbing compound? steel wool? i hate to repaint these 2 if i dont have to

Mean Green is what most use.

Magic eraser with a little alcohol works good. Seems the paint is tough on the cabs I've used it on, was able to scrub pretty hard with no paint loss. Test first in a small spot towards the back of the cab.

wesleys bleachwhite (automotive whitewall cleaner). removes bar room yellowing and kills mold/ mildew.

Post some before and after photos. I'd like to see how well the bleche white works. I usually use magic eraser and a lot of elbow grease.

ill take some pics......i have a few machines that SADLY are like this........the cabinet paint is all there and in nice shape but the white is like a yellowish brown!!!

Mean Green will also work, spray it on and watch the tar roll off! If I can't find that, then Wesleys Bleech White as stated above.

hey guys.....i tried to clean the cabinet a little today on a 1973 chicago coin commando......and decided to post up the results so far.....with pics........

i tried the bleche white and it worked great..........the pictures show exactly what the bleche white did with very little effort......

i tried my own cleaner wax (buff 'n wipe made by transmate) and it produced the same exact results as the bleche white EXCEPT the bleche white was alot easier to use because it had the consistency of water and could be spread on easier.....

i also tried a cleaning product that was not as strong as mean green/simple green but similair and it didnt work too well......(i didnt have any mean green around that i could find)

if anyone else tries to clean an old cabinet i reccommend the bleche white but be careful.......THE RESULTS ARE CONTAGIOUS

Be very careful on anything except white on those Chicago coin games. I lost a good chuck of color on one of mine using the mean green / bleche white treatment...
