Restoring my Playchoice 10

Regarding the capkit, there is a web pictorial out there. I had it bookmarked on my old compy before it went the way of the dodo. It basically laid the entire process out step-by-step with great pictures. If a sanyo is your first capkit, its definetly something you should find. Tomorrow evening I'll see if I can find it if you haven't already by then.

Hey Frank,

Thanks so much for your post. If you (or anyone reading) can find the pictorial, that would be outstanding. Thanks so much for your help.

I will go with the type 44 bulb and see what happens :)

Here is the button I have. Mine does not even have 25c on it. I was looking at these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360127683670&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Not sure if they would work though. If you don't think they would work (I have discovered Nintendo is fussy about only using their parts), where would you recommend I post to look for another one.

Thank you so much again for all the help.

You should be able to pry the button open and print out your own inserts. Let me find the link... http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=139731

Dude AWESOME!!! Never thought of doing that. I am going to stick with stock for the PC 10, but will totally do that for my next build......provided this one ends well ;)

Just a quick FYI....NERDtendo was able to hook me up with a coin reject button. Made my day. Thanks so much NERDtendo!!!!!

An update:

I finally had some time to dive into the PC10 last night. New side art is on, button fixed, new T-molding on, and......pulled the "sick" top monitor.

I got the board out and am planning to begin the cap kit adventure tonight. Getting the board out was a joy....so many wires.

If the cap kit goes well tonight I should be all done by this weekend!!!!

Bezel

You can also get black poster boards from walmart, trace the patteren of the old one and cut with exzacto blade..

Great Idea. For the time being I painted the old monitor bezels. The look really good right now, but if it looks off under the tinted glass.....wally mart here I come.

Thanks again.

Sorry to leave you hanging on the walkthrough, hope you get this in time...
I couldn't get my compy working, but I did find one that may be of help. Google 'arcade restoration workshop' and look for a menu on the left that says photo tutorials, one will be there. I'd paste the link but my crappy iphone isn't wanting to be of any help. Again, sorry for the late reply, and if I ever stumble across the other I'll pm it to you so you have it in the future.

I DID IT !!!!!

Many of you may have thought…."whatever happened to that guy doing a cap kit on the Playchoice 10……haven't heard from him in a while…..wonder if the monitor killed him…."

Well I took on the monitor and successfully got the cap kit installed.

I tamed the Sanyo Beast!!!!

The brightness is a little better and the colors are significantly better.

What a process!!! The hardest part was getting everything disconnected and out.

So at this point I am pretty much all DONE!!!!

Missing two coin mech screws, but not cruical to the build.

I have some pictures on my Flickr page, but how do I get the big ones on here like others have done????

You did a great job...it looks amazing!!!

I may have the coin mech screws too. Let me know which ones you need and I'll just send it out to you (I'm not using them).

Thank you all so much for the kind words....made my day!!

Phetishboy: How did you add the big picture?

NERDtendo: Thank you so much regarding the screws, just sent you a PM.

Great Restore! I live in Moorhead and went and looked at the game, but was a bit timid with the monitor the way it was. Glad its back in action!
