Anyone have any tips for restoring Nintendo steel control panel bolts? (Mario Bros.) Has anyone done zinc plating?

I cannot find these bolts new anywhere in the world...

Dreml tool works wonders on the nintendo bolts. if you wanna go the extra mile use a jewelers polish with it as well..looks amazing when done and only take a few min.

but if you do want to buy them...doesnt mikes arcade have them?

Thanks. Mike's only has the smaller control panel bolts for the wood control panels like DK, and DK Jr.

I need the larger size like Punch-Out!!, Mario Bros, and Playchoice dual monitor. I think I may have found them at Bob Roberts.

Has anyone ordered the 8-32 bolts from Bob?

Take them off, wire wheel them and throw them back on, they come out looking great that way. . .

I put them in a drill and hit the top with 600 grit followed by some polishing wheel polish (don't know brand, it was leftover from my rock poishing days). You should be able to get something similar at an auto parts store.

They look great.

Sometimes I'll use 200 grit to get down to bare metal and use Rustoleum Black (the semi-gloss hammered texture). That makes the bolts look great as well.

The bolts Nintendo used are metric although those may work. M5's IIRC

I use an electrolytic process to get the rust off and convert as much of the rust back to steel as I can. Then polish them shiny, then seal them with clearcoat. That last part is important, otherwise they'll start to rust again very quickly.

Mikes arcade does indeed have them...I just got a bunch from them.

Additionally, if the other ones arent too far gone, steel wool gets them right back into shiny shape

Are these the ones?

Carriage bolt: M3 x .5 pitch x 20mm with KEP Nut.

I wasn't sure if I should post the actual link. This shows 8 and the wide body needs 12. Not saying I wouldn't just order 2 sets but just wondering if they were the same.
