So,

The first full size arcade game I purchased was a working Centipede. Me being the idiot that I am stripped the inside of the cabinet to install a mame PC.

Now, that I am done with that dark part of my life, I would like to put it all back together, however the only thing I kept was the game PCB and the trackball.

My question is can I simply purchase the Centipede to Jamma Adapter, jamma harness, power supply, (I have a brand new 19" monitor), and put it all back together?

Can I use the same trackball or do I need to buy new trackball?

Thanks,

Chris

Well was the trackball the original? If it is, I'd keep it. I wouldn't buy a jamma harness. I'd get an original Pede harness and piece it back to the original state.

It is the original trackball..

My problem is the price.. The harness is $50.00, the power supply is $40.00, the regulator board is $40.00.

The Jamma Adapter is $15.00, Harness $10.00........

I did find out that I can use the original trackball with the Jamma adapter...

Just not sure how to get video out to the monitor...

With the JAMMA setup, you'd still have to have an isolation transformer and switching power supply.

Im not sure you can bypass the ARII, even with a switcher. Centipedes are fairly common, I'd at least try to find a broken one cheap and piece it all together.

Centipede.

I have an uncut Centipede harness for $25 shipped. I have a working AR for $15 shipped and I might have a working Power brick for cheep as well.

I've seen Jamma adapters that also handle the audio functionality, so it can be entirely done without the ARII.

Having said that, though, it's either "original" or not. Jamma is better than MAME, but it's still not original.

You can bring it back to Centipede. I'd go with the original harness as it will make things easier for you.

Here is my restoration thread where I started with basically an empty cab.

Did you at least keep the original power block in the game? I would assume you would have, for the isolation transformer alone.

But, if you need one, they shouldn't be too hard to find.

That sounds like a great deal..

Let me know how much for shipping and I will take them... (Hopefully you have the power brick as well..)..

Thanks,

Chris

I will look for a brick in the morning. If I have one it will be $25 shipped. It is heavy. Otherwise, I will do $38 for the harness and AR shipped together. I would ship the brick in a seperate box either way. You are in the USA right? :)

Thanks alot..

I am using the arcadeshop centipede to jamma adapter in my jammapede cabinet. I had to hook up a pot inline with the speakers to regulate the volume; post #39 here
