Hi all. New to this forum and looking for advice on restoring a cocktail unit. Have this unit and is in pretty good shape (everything working). Two questions on the cabinet:
  1. Is it even an original Ms. Pac-Man unit? Not sure what the decals on that originally looked like as these look like Pac-Man.
  2. I am assuming this is not the original glass top as it looks like it is painted black and does not have the cut out to see the controllers. Would the right thing to do be to strip the paint off and put the Ms Pac-Man underlay down?

Appreciate any advice!

those are Pac control panel overlays.
Send pics of the coindoor. Single slot is Pac in my experience, dual is ms pac.
May be listed on a card stapled on inside cab also as to what is was originally.

Reachout to @mhcapps, he may have some high quality repros for that left in his stash, I got some from him and they were perfect.

I would scrape off black paint with a razor, clean it up with good foaming glass cleaner and see how the glass looks.
Good luck. Its an iconic game, I think everyone here has or has had at least one of these in the collection at one time.

Thanks for the reply! Single Slot. Definitely Pac-Man. Found a few tags inside the chasis.

yes that is OG Pac.
I'd restore back to Pac, look at a multi for it so you can play pac, ms and others on original hardware and enjoy.

Is that "Method of Play" tag original? It says "PACKMEN" instead of "PAC-MEN".
It is as far as i know. Had the machine for 35 years and my father before that, but does not look altered in any way.

Been trying to order a 96-1 from the site you linked but no luck. Any suggestions?

Looks like the button is working now. Thanks!
