Welp, I spent about 6 or 7 hours prepping my Taito cab for paint on Saturday. This is a cab I figured I MAY have an hour of prep to do... but once I got to work... I got... anal. Yes... that feeling that "if it aint' 100% it ain't right" crept in and I kept finding "flaws" that I needed to fix.

After I was done prepping I stood back and looked... and was still finding things that needed to be done. ARGH!

While I realize that these cabs were mass-produced and there is a high probability that the majority of "flaws" I fixed were there from day one, I still couldn't stop "fixing" the flaws.

I bet a good majority of "restored" cabs out there... are actually restored to BETTER than new.

I have a feeling that Phet's restorations end up better-than-new... And when he was out here, he told me he was in awe of Chris28510's (Whatever the number is) restorations, and that his didn't hold a candle to them.

That blew my mind.

wow alot of mopar guys. my neighbor has a 68 dart with a new 5.7 hemi in it. but i agree, most mass produced american cars at car show are way better then original, even the "stock" ones

as for me a littl ebet of that rustic, "ya, ive been used but not abused" look is fine with me. it gives it character

I agree. A lot of that goes with what I can afford right now, though.

The same can be said about cars and arcades. I can afford a "driver" buy not really a show level car. One of these days when I can afford to put the money and effort in to it, I will be all about show quality. At least on my arcades... I can play them and keep them in excellent condition, it's a bit harder to do with cars... They are more easily damaged while being used every day.
