I nominate the Berzerk restoration thread by retroACTIVE. Just amazing detail and true love for the game. Really appreciate the clear pics and documentation showing how he did the work. Much appreciated!

Any others?

(And I know some of you will be tempted to include my Rain Lamp restoration thread but let's keep it arcade related ok?) :)

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. These forums really need to have polls available for mere mortals to use. It would be perfect for actually voting on stuff like this. Are there more?

Eh...I'll throw these out there in order they were completed this year. They all took at least 40+ hours.

I just missed on my Tron by 6 days:

I have a Sega Turbo completed, but the monitor board's off at arcadecup, so I haven't done that thread yet. However, I did a lot of work on that as well in terms of woodworking and painting. Hopefully, I'll have that all posted in a few more weeks.

Phet made a good point earlier about the restoration threads not getting enough attention.

CoinOpSpace did a restoration thread contest that got some great entries. I'm sure of you were involved.

Something like that here would be nice. I'd go through a lot of trouble documenting my next project, for a contest that would just get attention to the threads. Would be nice to have it closer to spring time, for those of us without a heated spray booth.

Well if this were a real contest with actual prizes it would be sooooo hard to choose. Those are all such amazing work and way out of my league. Especially without a workshop. But these need to be showcased somehow because really...this is what it's all about I think.

You don't need a workshop...I certainly don't! A couple of mine were done in my finished basement...Bondo work, Sawzall, painting (non-spray) and all! Just takes determination...and a lot of stupidity.

But these need to be showcased somehow because really...this is what it's all about I think.

I agree 1000%. However, like the nightly news, it's the train wrecks that get the most attention, not the "good" in the world. People are more interested in trashing Tron, arguing about bad CLers, or adding their opinions on the world's ugliest toilet. The Restoration Showcase isn't even a showcase at all...it's hidden as a sub-forum.

{Yoda voice} Head of the nail, hit it you did...

Seriously, why is the restoration section buried? It should be the first forum listed. As far as nominations, I'm too lazy to find the links at the moment, but I would go with Phets Moon Patrol and Gregatrons MB widebody, both are outstanding!
