Resolved: Tutankham Joystick

Just curious, what are those potentiometers sticking out from under the marquee on the Rescue cab? It looks like the Tut cab has holes for them. I ask because I've got a Bagman cab with holes in the same place. Anybody know if this was a Stern thing?
Rescue has a headphone jack with a volume knob. You just plug in and can hear the game music and sound fx.

I have never heard of a factory Bagman with a headphone set up. Bit similar to how my Tut cabinet has the wrong front panel from the factory Stern may very well have been using what they had laying around. Is there any badging on the back or inside that leads you to believe it started out as anything other than Bagman?

I'd need to go back over and have another look again. It's been converted. The cabinet is the correct shape and it's still bright yellow on the top and back, so I'm assuming it was a Bagman. The other two Bagman cabinets I have do not have these holes. I'll try to take some pics when I've got a moment.

I also have a Bagman-styled Stern cabinet with holes drilled for the headphone socket. However on the inside of the front access door there was a Rescue dip switch sheet. Cabinet was converted and painted over when I got it but I can see yellow and under that grey overspray inside the cabinet. My guess is it was the last run of Rescue or a factory conversion to Bagman.

Heres some pictures... One thing thats interesting is that the monitor chassis cutout is on both sides. On my Bagman and Tutankham they are only cut out on one side.
Forgot to take a picture of it, but the backdoor is similar with yellow sprayed over blue paint like in Pooyan, they must have been using whatever they had lying around to make cabinets.

Another Tutankham followed me home today. This one dressed up like a Mat-Mania. Thats three Stern cabinets for me in less than a year.

Here's a few pics of the Bagman cab with those holes. It appears to be blocked off at the factory.

Im betting that was a leftover Rescue cabinet that got new life. Did you find this one since you were looking a few months back for a Stern? Or is this old stock you are making into something else?

So what are the proper joysticks for this? A four way for movement and a two way for fire?

It's definitely a Bagman cabinet. Rescue cabs have a side profile like a Tutankham. I've got this one and two other Bagman cabs as well as a Tutankham now.

I've never played it like that. I wonder if it's any easier that way.

Probably not, it's a brutal game. XD

Have you been playing it using an 8-way? Does the character get stuck like on ladybug? -where the game code can not handle multiple movement inputs at the same time... like Left + Up
