I have a Tapper that has worked great for years and an issue just popped up during normal use. Horizontal lines in a vertical stack are now showing up. I went over all the
tips from
@cdjump and here is what a tried so far:
- Hooked up the monitor to a TPG, no lines so monitor is fine
- Reseated and cleaned all chips on the MCR boards.
- Checked voltages on power supply and on SSIO board, they all seem fine. I can't really check voltages on the other two, I don't have a test rig where I can lay the boards flat.
- Prior owner of the game installed a switching power supply and did not do an MCR kit. It's not the way I would install it but it has been working fine for years.
- I disconnected the ribbon cables from the SSIO board and booted it. Lines are still there.
- Tested continuity across the ribbon cables. All checked out.
I am not sure what to check next. I feel like a logic chip failed or something is shorting the power somewhere. I don't know what to try next. I appreciate any suggestions people might have. Thank you in advance!
