Resistance is Futile (ST:TNG Color DMD)

I was glad there wasn't a preorder option when I got the email last night. I would have ordered. Now I have the chance to wait and see if it looks like it is worth the upgrade. It is a cool idea, but I don't know if I want to pay $400 for a laptop screen. If they do a really good job on it, I might buy it though.

I am all for keeping my STTNG how it was BITD, but I have played Addams Family, Attack From Mars and Medieval Madness with a color DMD and it is so damn cool...

I woudn't put LEDs my ST:TNG as you will lose the beam in effect on some of the lights, the lanes are a good example, they flicker in.

ST:TNG is my all time favorite pin but there's no way I will be able to get one anytime soon. Too much $$$$$$.

It's interesting that they are still making new pins with monchrome DMDs rather than newer technology like LCDs, or even color DMDs. Yes I know WOZ will not be using a DMD...

Gotta admit... the color DMD's they had at CAX last year looked pretty damn awesome.

Future machines should include them. Period.

I can't believe these haven't been standard the last 10 years or so. Eagerly awaiting (bank account is dreading) the day they announce one for Tron...

As much as I really want one, I am now patiently waiting for ColorDMD to address the power issues. There are LOTS of reports on pinside about the problems. Basically this DMD needs its own 12v power because its causing weak flippers and cannons. There are a couple people who installed per directions and have blown boards because of the power issues. I'm guessing the official fix will be an additional power supply just for the dmd. For $400 I would hope ColorDMD includes it in future versions.
